A) Background

The STARS Residential College (德藝書院) is established under the Special Talents Admission and Recognition Scheme (STARS) of the PolyU. The college aims to provide residents with a vibrant living and learning environment to facilitate their talent development alongside their pursuit of academic studies.
STARS Residential College, led by the Master, is supported by a dedicated team of Residential Education, Residential Fellows and Residential Tutors.
The Master, in addition to overseeing the operation of STARS Residential College, will collaborate with talented individuals within/outside the University to foster the talent development of the residents. The Residential Education Team will be responsible for fostering the whole-person development of the residents. The Residential Fellows will provide training, coaching and mentoring for residents to conduct action learning projects/showcase projects. The Residential Tutors will support the RC Master in organising activities and administrative works.

B) College Goals

STARS Residential College aims to:

  • Offer support to residents for participating in various competitions
  • Offer support to residents during the transitions that they encounter
  • Strengthen the development of leadership and talents of residents 
  • Prepare residents to become leaders and lifelong learners

C) College Programme

Residents of the STARS Residential College will be supported and inspired to develop their talents in music, art, sports, STEM and leadership etc. and foster their whole-person development through various hall activities, programmes and platforms, including action learning projects, showcase projects, and inspirational talks and dialogues with professors/famous artists/elite athletes/talented leaders.  

D) Admission Arrangement for Undergraduate Students

  1. In general, admission to STARS Residential College will follow the normal hall admission policies, except that:
    • Priority will be given to students under the Special Talents Admission and Recognition Scheme (STARS) and awardees of Presidential Student Leadership Award (PSLA);
    • Students with proven talents, recipients of recognised awards and winners of prestigious competitions will be favourably considered; and
    • Current students must attain a CGPA ≥ 2.5 and have no hall disciplinary record. 
  2. STARS Residential College residents may apply for readmission for the following year via Special Readmission Scheme (SRS).
  3. The Hall Admission Committee (HAC) reserves the right to make the final decision on hall admission issues in case of any dispute.

 

Residents of STARS Residential College shall be governed by the rules and regulations of Homantin Halls unless otherwise specified.
