Purpose

The showcase is a vibrant celebration of the moments and memories that define our hall community. It invites viewers to relive a rich tapestry of experiences—from exhilarating sports competitions and unforgettable gatherings to quiet everyday joys and heart-warming community service projects. Through a dynamic display of videos, photographs, and artefacts, it captures the spirit, diversity, and unity of hall life, offering an authentic reflection of our shared journey and collective experiences.

Purpose

The Water Game cum Opening Ceremony marks the official commencement of the PolyU Hall Festival 2026 with this signature half-day event organized by the Student Resources and Support Section (SAO). Designed to spark cross-hall integration and cultural exchange, the afternoon combines high-energy competition with a warm, inclusive Fireside Gathering. Hall residents can connect through teamwork and sportsmanship during the exhilaration of the Water Game, while unwinding at the live-streaming party—an ideal setting for intercultural dialogue, shared knowledge, and new friendships. Together, these complementary experiences strengthen community bonds and lay a vibrant, unified foundation for the entire festival season.

 Purpose

Hosted by the Student Resources and Support Section (SAO), the HK style BBQ brings residents together to experience an authentic Hong Kong culinary tradition. Gathering around the grill allows residents from diverse backgrounds to connect through the universal language of food, creating a warm atmosphere for natural cross-cultural exchange. As students share traditional flavors and exchange personal perspectives, this interactive experience encourages residents to broaden their global outlook, build friendships, and foster a strong community bonding across cultural divides.

Purpose

This half-day symposium jointly organized by Student Resources and Support Section (SAO), Boyan Hall, and CURI Residential College will bring together international and local hall residents to showcase their research on care for life in the AI era. We define “care” broadly, referring not only to protecting physical and mental safety, but also to attending the wellbeing of our life and how our community makes our life worth living. We define “AI” as a set of technologies that perform a variety of advanced tasks in ways that once required human intelligence, such as understanding language and analyzing data.

The symposium aims to highlight that our hall community fosters both vibrant social engagement and serious academic pursuits, creating an environment conducive to residents’ holistic development. We welcome diverse approaches to the theme as we collectively explore new values and ways of caring for life in the AI era.

International Food Fair and Variety Show brings together diverse cuisines and different performances, creating meaningful exchange opportunities among students. These vibrant events serve as gateways to understanding cultural identities through food sharing, transform campus spaces into inclusive gathering points, and encourage authentic interactions that extend to broader cultural discussions. Beyond being enjoyable social gatherings, these celebrations are powerful educational tools fostering intercultural competence that prepare participants to navigate our interconnected global society with greater appreciation for diversity.
