Readmission Scheme of CURI Residential College (RSCRC)

Due to the overwhelming number of hall applications received every year, local students with prior hall experience and non-local students in their 2nd year or above may have difficulty to be readmitted into the halls. The Readmission Scheme of CURI Residential College (RSCRC) is a discretionary arrangement with the aim to handle the re-admission of the aforementioned students of CURI Residential College (CURI RC).

A. Eligibility

All applicants should be residents of CURI RC and full-time students studying in UGC-funded degree programmes

B. Hall Admission Committee (HAC)

The HAC is commissioned to maintain a consistent and transparent system for hall admission issues. The HAC reserves the right to make the final decision on all RSCRC applications and the right to revoke the relevant offer if deemed necessary and appropriate.

C. Consideration Factors and Scoring Mechanism

The HAC Committee grants discretionary CURI RC places with reference to the following consideration factors:

Contribution to and Participation in CURI RC Activities
Academic Performance (based on CGPA result)
Student Conduct

Remarks:

Only formal records of contribution and participation took place on or before 30 April in the year of application submitted by the CURI RC Master and Resident Fellows, or records maintained by the Student Resources and Support Section of Student Affairs Office will be counted.
Applicants with equal marks will be further prioritized by drawing lots.

D. Marking Scheme

Participation and Contribution in CURI RC Activities* (max. 12 marks):

^{Notes:

i. URIS students are required to fulfill the attending requirements of Graduate School as specified.

ii. Eligible Category (b) activities organised by the Residential Education Team should be labelled as “RSCRC-recognised”.

iii. Category (e) shall be capped at 6 marks (maximum 3 marks for contestant, 3 marks for award winner). Additionally, if a resident submits multiple competition records within the same academic year, only the record with the highest mark will be counted toward the readmission score. The competition date must fall within the applicant’s hall residency period for the application year.}

Arrangement of RSCRC for Applicants Participating in PolyU-organized Outbound Exchange or Overseas WIE

If an applicant participates in a PolyU-organized Outbound Exchange Programme or Overseas Work-Integrated Education (WIE) for one semester or more, and is required to be physically present in a foreign country during the year of SRS application, his/her Participation and Contribution (P&C) Records from the latest two semesters of hall residence in the current or preceding academic year, excluding the summer semester, will be considered.

For example, if a Year 3 student joins an outbound exchange programme in Semester 1 of 2026/27, the assessment will take into account the student’s P&C Records from Semester 2 of Year 2 and the semester 2 in Year 3 during which the student resides in hall.

As another example, if an applicant joins an outbound exchange programme in Semester 2 of 2026/27, the assessment will take into account the student’s P&C Records from Semester 2 of 2025/26 and Semester 1 of 2026/27 during which the student resides in hall.

The maximum marks of categories should still be compiled with. Students should declare the abovementioned engagement and provide valid document proof in the online system by 30 Apr 2027 for verification of eligibility.

Student Conduct

Every hall disciplinary case which result in a warning or bar from hall access	Deduct 10% of the total marks

Only disciplinary cases that occur between 1 May of the previous year and 30 April of the application year will be counted. If a student has more than one disciplinary record in the University, the percentage of deduction will be accumulated. For example, if a student has a record at SDC and has received a warning at hall, 40% of the total marks will be deducted.

E. Conditions for the Offer

Successful applicants shall meet the specific admission criteria set by CURI RC on academic performance and student conduct.
Successful applicants shall not apply to transfer to another hall once re-admitted by CURI RS.
Successful applicants shall understand that once they accept the CURI RS offer, their hall application in the normal round and application for Off-campus Housing, if any, will be cancelled automatically without prior notice.
Successful applicants shall understand that their CURI RS offer will be withdrawn immediately if they are barred from hall application due to violation of Hall Rules before the commencement of the residential year.

F. Application Procedures

CURI RS application has been embedded in the Normal Hall Application. Please submit your CURI RS application when completing your Normal Hall Application via POSS with the latest version of Chrome. The tentative application period is 3–20 May 2027. Exact dates will be confirmed via email closer to the time. Interested students please indicate so in their hall application. Late application will not be accepted.
Result – Application result will be announced by email on 18 June 2027. No CURI RS waiting list will be maintained. In case successful applicants decline their CURI RS offers, their offers will be retracted for central allocation.
Appeal – There is no appeal mechanism for CURI RS. In case of any dispute, the decision of the HAC is final and binding and it does not need to disclose the reasons for unsuccessful applications.
