For Hiring Units

  • To publicise job opportunities, please log on to PolyU Job Board – Employer Portal (via PolyU-SSO) and submit a job posting request. CPS will publish the vacancy on PolyU Job Board and, as appropriate, include it in our Weekly Reminder emails to students. Please allow at least two weeks for processing and publication.
  • Applicants’ applications will be submitted to the hiring units directly. The hiring unit may then contact applicants to arrange for interviews.
  • Before confirming an appointment, the hiring unit should remind non-local students to verify their visa/entry-permit conditions and ensure that they hold a valid No Objection Letter (NOL). For details, please refer to “Employment during the Study Programme” on the website of the Immigration Department, HKSAR Government.
  • The remuneration rate is generally HK$80/hour. For details about Statutory Minimum Wage, please refer to the website of the Labour Department, HKSAR Government. Employment exceeding 59 calendar days is subject to Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) requirements.
  • Upon completion of the selection process, the hiring unit should:
    • coordinate with the Human Resources Office (HRO) and arrange for the issuance of appointment letters to successful applicants; and
    • maintain timesheets for monthly payroll processing by the Finance Office (FO), obtaining student assistants’ acknowledgement of their recorded working hours, and ensuring timely payment.
  • On-the-job supervision and performance feedback are strongly encouraged to be provided for the student assistants throughout their employment.

For Student Job Seekers

  • The Scheme is open to all eligible PolyU full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students, including local and non-local students (excluding exchange students and visiting students) whose study period is not less than one academic year.

*    Non-local students (definition available on Academic Registry’s website) are responsible for confirming their eligibility to take up the employment and for complying with all applicable conditions of stay. For details, please refer to “Employment during the Study Programme” on the website of the Immigration Department, HKSAR Government.

  • To search for job opportunities, log on to PolyU Job Board – Job Seeker Portal > “Position under Work-on-Campus Scheme” button below the search bar.
  • Complete and submit the application form to the hiring unit.
  • If you want to accept a position offered, confirm your acceptance with the hiring unit and agree on the work schedule and appointment arrangements, as appropriate.
  • The remuneration rate is generally HK$80/hour. For details about Statutory Minimum Wage, please refer to the website of the Labour Department, HKSAR Government. Employment exceeding 59 calendar days is subject to Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) requirements.
  • To avoid any adverse impact on academic studies, students are NOT recommended to work for 17 hours or more per week.
  • Students who wish to undertake part-time employment as a student assistant to fulfil their WIE requirements must obtain endorsement from their Academic Departments prior to the employment in accordance with the prevailing WIE approval procedures.
