PolyU is committed to providing a campus environment that is nurturing and inclusive. To support this direction, SAO does not only provide a wide array of quality services and programmes for students with special educational needs (SEN), but also provides trainings to all students for enhancing inclusion awareness on campus. 

 

Training and support

  • Training workshops:
  • Training workshops are arranged from time to time. Please watch out for our promotion sent via MLM.
  • Workshops on Inclusion Awareness

    Key content of the workshops is as follows:

    • Major features of the specified SEN types and its diagnostic criteria
    • Intervention and treatment available for these SEN types
    • How to create a supportive environment for these SEN types
    • Understand the accommodations for these SEN types

Workshop 1: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Date: 8 September 2026 (Tuesday)
Time: 2.30pm – 4.30pm

Workshop 2: Mental Illness (MI)

Date: 16 September 2026 (Wednesday) 
Time: 2.30pm – 4.30pm

Workshop 3: Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Date: 22 September 2026 (Tuesday)
Time: 2.30pm – 4.30pm

Workshop 4: Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD)

Date: 28 September 2026 (Monday)
Time: 2.30pm – 4.30pm

Workshop 5: Inclusion and Communicating with Students with Visual Impairment (VI), Hearing Impairment (HI) and Physical Impairment (PI)

Date: 7 October 2026 (Wednesday)
Time: 2.30pm – 4.30pm
Venue: BC202

These workshops will be conducted face-to-face in English. The facilitator would be Mr Kenneth Chow, registered Educational Psychologist.

To register, please complete this e-form on or before 3 September 2026 (Thursday). You are welcome to join part or all of these workshops. First-come-first-served. A confirmation email will be sent to successful participants in due course. Should you require any special support for joining these workshops, please indicate in the e-form by the aforementioned deadline. 

 

  • E-learning materials for supporting students with special educational needs.  To access, please 
    • Go to this link, then login with your NetID and password
    • Click "Sumbit" at the page of "Self enrollment" of “E-learning Materials for Supporting Students with Special Needs
    • Select "OK" to continue the course
