From time to time, there are scholarships open for application by students or, the candidates of which are nominated by Dean/Head of faculties or academic departments. Please click here for the schedule of inviting application/nomination for details.

The following scholarships are open for application. Unless otherwise specified, the applicants must be currently pursuing a full-time undergraduate programme leading to PolyU award (i.e. HKCC, SPEED, PolyU inbound exchange students are not eligible). Kindly note that the Donors/PolyU reserve(s) the right to accept/decline any application or withdraw the scholarship(s) at any time (e.g. when there is no deserving candidate, in case of unforeseen circumstance, etc.). Please read the information sheet of individual scholarship carefully before submitting the application form. In case of any dispute/disagreement, the decision of the Donors/PolyU shall be final.

  

Information Session on HSBC Scholarship Programmes 2021/22 and Innovation & Technology Scholarship 2022

An Information Session for the HSBC Scholarship Programmes 2021/22 and the Innovation & Technology Scholarship 2022 is scheduled for 3 November 2021 (Wednesday) afternoon.   If you are interested in getting more information on the scholarship(s), you are welcome to REGISTER HERE on or before 12.00 noon on 2 November 2021 (Tuesday).

The information session consists of two parts.  Eligible students are welcome to attend either/both parts of the Session, the details of which are as follows:

Part I: Information Session for HSBC Overseas Scholarship 2022/23

Date: 3 November 2021 (Wednesday) 
Time: 4.30 – 5.00 pm (registration at 4.15 pm)

HSBC’s representative will introduce the HSBC Scholarship Programmes and give valuable advices to potential applicants.

  • HSBC Greater Bay Area (Hong Kong) Scholarship 2021/22
  • HSBC Hong Kong Scholarship 2021/22
  • HSBC Social Work Scholarship 2021/22
  • HSBC Vocational Education Scholarship 2021/22
  • HSBC Overseas Scholarship 2022/23
Eligibility: Local (i.e. permanent residents with right of abode in Hong Kong) full-time government-funded undergraduate degree students
Brief Information
on the Scholarships:

a)  HSBC Greater Bay Area (Hong Kong) Scholarship 2021/22

  • Each scholarship valued at HK$80,000
  • Open for nomination by Faculties/Schools
  • LOCAL full-time government-funded undergraduate degree students of all disciplines with a CGPA of 3.0 by end of Semester 1 of 2021/22 and have commitment to pursue employment, entrepreneurship or advanced academic opportunities in the Greater Bay Area are eligible to apply.

b)  HSBC Hong Kong Scholarship 2021/22 

  • Each scholarship valued at HK$50,000
  • Open for nomination by Faculties/Schools
  • LOCAL full-time government-funded undergraduate degree students of all disciplines with a CGPA of 3.7 by end of Semester 1 of 2021/22 are eligible to apply.

c)  HSBC Social Work Scholarship 2021/22

  • Each scholarship valued at HK$25,000
  • Open for nomination by Department of Applied Social Sciences
  • LOCAL full-time government-funded undergraduate degree students who are enrolled in the Social Work programme and have a CGPA of 3.3 by end of Semester 1 of 2021/22 are eligible to apply.

d)  HSBC Vocational Education Scholarship 2021/22

  • Each scholarship valued at HK$20,000
  • Open for nomination by Academic Departments
  • LOCAL full-time government-funded higher diploma students with a CGPA of 3.3 are eligible to apply.

e)  HSBC Overseas Scholarship 2022/23

  • Each scholarship valued at up to HK$300,000, to support recipients to study abroad for one semester or one academic year in 2022/23
  • Open for nomination by Faculties/Schools
  • LOCAL non-final year full-time government-funded undergraduate degree students of all disciplines with a CGPA of 3.7 by end of Semester 1 of 2021/22 are eligible to apply.

Application
Method:

Scholarship will be open for nomination by Faculties/Schools/Academic Departments in November 2021.  Interested students should keep an eye on the announcement from their Faculty/School/Academic Department.

 Part II: Information Session for Innovation and Technology Scholarship 2022  

Date: 3 November 2021 (Wednesday) 
Time: 5.00 – 5.45 pm (students wish to only attend Part II must arrive at the venue no later than 4.50 pm

Content: Representatives from the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and HSBC will introduce the Scholarship and give valuable advices to potential applicants.
Eligibility: LOCAL (i.e. permanent residents with right of abode in Hong Kong) non-final-year full-time government-funded undergraduate degree students pursuing a science-related programme
Brief Information
on the Scholarship:
  • 25 scholarships with value of up to HK$150,000 each are open for competition by students from the local tertiary institutions. The scholarships aim to support awardees to attach to one or more overseas/Mainland universities/institutions between 1 June 2022 and 31 July 2023.

  • For students:
    a)  undertaking a science-related government-funded degree.

    b)  with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 (or equivalent) or above.
    c)  having achieved a satisfactory result from any one of the English tests, including TOEFL, IELTS, HKDSE, IB and IGCSE.
    d)  having passion in innovation and technology, and intention of pursuing this as a career.
    e)  who are well-rounded and have participated in extra-curricular and/or community service activities.
    f)  willing to serve the community and have a strong commitment to Hong Kong.
    g)  possessing good communication skills.
