From time to time, there are scholarships open for application by students or, the candidates of which are nominated by Dean/Head of faculties or academic departments. Please click here for the schedule of inviting application/nomination for details.

The following scholarships are open for application. Unless otherwise specified, the applicants must be currently pursuing a full-time undergraduate programme leading to PolyU award (i.e. HKCC, SPEED, PolyU inbound exchange students are not eligible). Kindly note that the Donors/PolyU reserve(s) the right to accept/decline any application or withdraw the scholarship(s) at any time (e.g. when there is no deserving candidate, in case of unforeseen circumstance, etc.). In case of any dispute/disagreement, the decision of the Donors/PolyU shall be final.

Please read the information sheet of individual scholarship carefully before submitting the application form (except those online applications and those scholarships which form collection venue is not Student Affairs Office) to the specified collection box in Student Affairs Office (Room QT308). Each applicant is expected to receive an email notifier acknowledging their applications from Student Affairs Office within 10 working days from the deadline of application.

HSBC Overseas Scholarship 2021/22

  • To current local full-time non-final-year students pursuing government-funded undergraduate degree programme.
  • To spend one semester or one academic year for credit-bearing studies at one of the specified overseas universities in 2021/22.
  • The nominees must have consistent outstanding academic performance with at least a cumulative GPA 3.70 or being top 3% of the programme pursuing by the end of Semester 1 of 2020/21. 

This scholarship is not open for application.  Interested students should approach the Scholarship Liaison Officer of respective Faculty/School/Academic Department by the date specified by their Faculty/School/Department or by Wednesday, 23 December 2020 (whichever is earlier) if they wish to be considered for the nomination.

Innovation and Technology Scholarship 2021

  • To current local non-final-year undergraduate degree students of science-related disciplines
  • The Scholarships offer students opportunities to strengthen their global outlook (via Overseas /Mainland Attachment Programme), learn from professionals and renowned experts (via Mentorship Programme) and gain exposure in relevant industries (via optional Local Internship Programme).

The Scholarship is not open for application. Students who wish to be considered for nomination of the Innotech Scholarship by PolyU should approach the Scholarship Liaison Officer of respective Academic Department by the date specified by their School/Department or Tuesday, 12 January 2021 (whichever is earlier).

AIA Scholarship 2020/21
Deadline: 23:59, 26 January 2021 (Tuesday)

  • The value of each Scholarship is HK$50,000 per annum, while the tenure is the normal duration of study of the awardee’s enrolled undergraduate degree programme.
  • To current bachelor degree year 1 students in the academic year 2020/21 who were admitted into a PolyU full-time government-funded undergraduate degree programme in 2020/21. (i.e. Only for students with student ID number starting with “20”, yet senior-year intake students are NOT eligible.)
  • The awardees should have
    • the right of abode or the right to land, or have entered the Hong Kong on One-way Permits; or
    • resided in the Hong Kong continuously for at least three complete years immediately prior to the commencement of their undergraduate programme; and
    • received their senior secondary education in Hong Kong, including those who have studied local (e.g. Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education) and non-local (e.g. International Baccalaureate) curricula; and
    • academic excellence with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 in the first semester of the first year of studies;
    • demonstrated a record of community service or charitable work, undertaken prior to the scholarship application.
  • The awardees should not be holding entry scholarship(s) or other tuition scholarship(s).
  • Where candidates are of equal merit, priority will be given to students from families experiencing financial difficulty.

The C I Stapleton Scholarship 2020/21
Deadline: 23:59, 26 January 2021 (Tuesday)

  • 2 - 3 scholarships totaling HK$100,000, with individual value ranging from HK$30,000-$50,000.
  • The awardees must be current full-time undergraduate and postgraduate (both research and programme based) PolyU students aged 25 or below and being graduates of either one of the following local Secondary Schools/Colleges:
    • Diocesan Boys School (DBS)
    • Diocesan Girls School (DGS)
    • Island School
    • King George V School
    • Sha Tin College
    • South Island School
    • West Island School
    • Discovery College
    • Renaissance College
  • The awardees must have excellent academic results (minimum cumulative GPA in Semester 1 of 2020/21 should be over 3.0). Financial needs of the candidates will also be taken into consideration.

BEA Inspiring Student Scholarship 2020/21 (for full-time degree students with SEN)
Deadline: 23:59, 26 January 2021 (Tuesday)

  • A total of 10 awards of HK$20,000 each to be competed by SEN students from local government-funded tertiary institutions.
  • To current full-time undergraduate degree students pursuing government-funded programmes and with special educational needs (SEN) defined by the Hong Kong Rehabilitation Programme Plan issued by the Labour and Welfare Bureau. Both local and non-local students are eligible (preference to local students).
  • The selection shall be based on a combination of factors including both academic & non-academic merits of the candidates, the financial status of the candidate and his/her family, as well as the quality of the individual essay.

HKSAR Government Scholarship Fund - Endeavour Merit Award (EMA) 2020/21
(for full-time students with SEN)
Deadline: 23:59, 26 January 2021 (Tuesday)

  • A total of 19 awards of HK$15,000 each.
  • To current full-time students pursuing government-funded programmes and with special educational needs (SEN) defined by the Hong Kong Rehabilitation Programme Plan issued by the Labour and Welfare Bureau. Both local and non-local students are eligible.
  • The selection shall be mainly based on academic merits of the candidates.
