National Day Flag-Raising Ceremony Fosters a Stronger Sense of National Identity and Belonging

PolyU held a flag-raising ceremony on campus on 1 October 2026 to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China.

 

The ceremony brought together over 700 guests, staff, students and alumni to extend their best wishes for the prosperity of the Nation and the long-term stability and development of Hong Kong. The ceremony was conducted by the PolyU Student Flag-Raising Team, with the support of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison.

 

In preparation for the ceremony, members of the PolyU Student Flag-Raising Team devoted significant time and effort to intensive training and rehearsals, demonstrating remarkable dedication, discipline and teamwork. Their professionalism and commitment ensured the solemn and dignified conduct of the ceremony, while fostering a stronger sense of national identity and belonging among the participants.

 

PolyU is grateful to the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison for its support and guidance in training the student flag-raisers, which contributed significantly to the success of the ceremony.
