Introduction

Introduced since 1998, OSRS aims to provide opportunities for outstanding student-athletes to study at PolyU while continuing their pursuit of excellence in sports. Those who have participated in major international competitions, or are members of Hong Kong SAR Team/Junior Team, are welcome to apply for admission to PolyU through this scheme. Applications should be submitted to Counselling and Wellness(Sports Development) of SAO before mid of December. Application forms and further details are obtainable via the website.

Objectives
  • To support sports development in Hong Kong and recognise the distinguished achievements of our young sportsmen
  • To provide opportunities for outstanding sportsmen to study at PolyU while continuing their pursuit of excellence in sports
  • To enhance the reputation of the University in the local, national and international competition
  • To encourage all-round development among PolyU students

    This scheme is open to local elite athletes who meet the following criteria:

    1. Eligible to represent Hong Kong in competitions sanctioned by the respective international federation.
    2. Meet PolyU’s general entrance requirements (Admissions | The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU)) and programme-specific entrance requirements.
    3. Have satisfactory performance in selection interview.

    You may receive academic guidance, flexible study arrangements, access to sports facilities, and support for balancing sports and studies.

    JUPAS Applicant
    1. Academic qualification (F.5 school result)
    2. Reference letter from Hong Kong Sports Institute or National Sports Association
    3. Personal sports certificates

    Non-JUPAS Applicant
    1. Academic qualification (e.g. report of HD/AD result)
    2. Copies of PolyU Non-JUPAS application form
    3. Reference letter from Hong Kong Sports Institute or National Sports Association
    4. Personal sports certificates

    Applicants will be considered automatically on the eligibility for the STARS Scholarships# .

    # Non-academic entry scholarships are subjected to meeting the required conditions for scholarship renewal

    In addition, post-entry scholarships and prizes, ranging in value from around HK$1,000 to HK$16,000 each, are available to university sports team members

    You are welcome to The POLYU INFO DAY 2025 will commence on 27 September 2025. On this date, the Student Affairs Office will hold two briefing sessions for the Outstanding Sportsmen Recommendation Scheme.
