A. Statutory Requirement

The pool shall entertain 70 pool users only at any one time under license.

B. Swimming Pool Opening Hours
  1. To save resources, the Pool will only be opened at period with high utilization and hence its opening hours are subject to changes. Please refer to the pool notice board for its opening hours.
  2. Pool users will be asked to leave the pool 5 minutes before the pool closing time.
  3. For safety reasons, the pool will be closed during thunderstorms and typhoons.
  4. The whole or part of the Pool may be closed for classes, training or competitions as deemed necessary. Advance notice of these closures will be posted at the entrance of changing rooms and pool area.
  5. The pool will be closed at any time if considered necessary by the Hall Administration or his delegate.
C. Pool Users
  1. The Hall Swimming Pool entertains hall residents and registered visitors only.
  2. For bringing a visitor to the swimming pool, the host resident is required to buy a Guest Ticket ($20) and an S Card (Swimmer’s smart-card, $50) at the Booking Counter of the Fitness Room (Room 201).
  3. The S Card, valid for one-day use only, is refundable upon returning the Card to the Counter within the same day and before 23:00.
  4. The host resident can invite not more than 3 visitors to the Pool at any one occasion.
  5. A host resident found bringing in visitor(s) without a Guest Ticket will be fined $50 per visitor.
D. Pool Access Control
  1. Bring along 2 HK$5 coins for using the lockers inside the changing rooms (for storing personal properties) and on the pool deck (for storing the resident card and the locker key) respectively;
  2. Upon entrance
a. Pass through the turnstile;
b. Deposit your student ID card or Swimmer’s Smart-card into the locker on the deck;
  1. Upon departure
a. Collect your student ID card or Swimmer’s Smart-card from the locker;
b. Pass through the turnstile.
 
E. General Conducts
  1. Take a shower and go through the footbath before entering the pool area.
  2. Wear proper swimming attire in the pool area. (refer to Appendix I)
  3. Wear swimming cap, if you have long hair down to the shoulders to prevent the loose hair from blocking the filtration plant.
  4. Gauge your swimming speed and use the appropriate lane in order not to cause unnecessary hindrance to professional swimmers in the Fast Lane.
  5. Make sure other pool users are not around before jumping from the Starting Platform.
  6. Use float boards and leg buoys provided by the Halls and put them back in the storage area after use.
  7. Swimming aids and fun items (such as soft inflatable beach balls), which will not cause hazard or hindrance to other pool users, are allowed in the Amateur Lane.
  8. If you want to take shower upstairs in your room, please make sure you have dried up your body in the changing room and put on a T-shirt before taking the lift or gaining access into the public area in the hall.
F. Prohibitions

For the health and safety of all pool users, the following are NOT allowed:

  1. Children below the age of 12 are not allowed to use the pool unless accompanied by adults.
  2. Persons suffering from conjunctivitis, skin disease or other contagious diseases are not allowed to enter the swimming pool.
  3. No use of Pool is allowed outside the pool opening hours or when lifeguard is absent.
  4. No changing of clothes is allowed in the pool area except in the changing rooms.
  5. No clothes of other forms, except swimming wear, are allowed in the pool.
  6. No food, drink and smoking are allowed in the pool area.
  7. No photo-taking is allowed in the pool area, except with the approval of the Facilities Management Office.
  8. No footwear of any form is allowed at the pool deck area. Rubber sandals should be left inside the turnstile area.
  9. No spectacles are allowed in the pool.
  10. No use of sun tan lotion is allowed in the pool area.
  11. No boisterous games of any kind are allowed in the pool area.
  12. No spitting is allowed in the pool area.
G. Others
  1. The Halls is not responsible for any damage to or loss of any personal properties of residents or visitors on hall premises due to the resident/visitor’s own negligence.
  2. Pool uses should abide by the Regulations stated herein and follow the instructions of the lifeguards or Hall Staff.
  3. The Hall Administration has delegated the authority to the Property Management Office for overseeing the daily operation of the pool.
  4. The Regulations governing the use of the pool are subject to periodic revision when deemed necessary.
