The "Photography & Aesthetics – Mobile Portrait" Workshop, held on 3–4 March 2026, was a resounding success, attracting over 60 enthusiastic participants. The event began with inspiring opening remarks from Prof. Ben Young, Vice President (Student and Global Affairs), setting the tone for an engaging and creative session.
The workshop was led by Mr. Kar Wah Chiang, an internationally renowned photographer and lifestyle aesthetician. Mr. Chiang studied art and photography in Paris and has worked with numerous Hong Kong celebrities, as well as global fashion magazines such as Cosmopolitan, ELLE, and Marie Claire. His impressive portfolio features iconic covers, album art, and advertising campaigns for legendary figures including Brigitte Lin, Maggie Cheung, Tony Leung, and Anita Mui. Throughout the workshop, he captivated the audience with his insights on composition, light, shadow, and color, demonstrating how mobile photography can transform everyday moments into timeless works of art.
Students were highly engaged throughout the workshop, participating in lively discussions. The event was a collaborative effort between the Student Affairs Office (SAO) and the Photographic Society, providing student organizations with valuable hands-on experience in event planning and execution.
In the closing remarks, our Dean of Students Prof. Horace Mui expressed heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Chiang for his generous masterclass, which incredibly provided our students with an invaluable window into the world of artistry.
This workshop not only deepened participants’ understanding of photography and aesthetics but also fostered teamwork and practical learning among student organizations.
