Application for Hall Residence 2026/27 – Prospective non-local undergraduate students

1) Admission Policy of Student Halls for Undergraduate Students

2) Application Period: 10 Jun (10:00am) to 28 Aug (11:59pm) Hong Kong Time

3) Eligibility:

All full-time students in UGC-funded degree programmes are eligible. 

4) Admission Procedures and Hall Regulations:

Applicants should abide by the rules and procedures on hall admission and allocation of hall, room type and room as stated in General Information on Application for Undergraduate Halls. Students once admitted should comply with the Hall Regulations of the respective Student Halls (Hung Hom Halls / Homantin Halls), which may be revised by the University as and when necessary and appropriate from time to time. Applicants should read the terms stated in the above-mentioned websites before submitting their hall applications. It is assumed that they agree to comply with these regulations once they send in their application.

8) Application Procedures & Tentative Schedule:

Applicants should pay close attention to the following application procedures and schedule, and contact the Hall Administration if they do not receive the relevant email notification timely. Application, acceptance of hall offer and payment made after the deadline will generally not be accepted.

  • Applicants should understand that the preferences indicated in their application will not be guaranteed.
  • Applicants should receive an email confirming that their application has being successfully submitted and a unique reference number will be provided. 
  • If they do not receive the email in time, please contact the Hall Administration at student.halls@polyu.edu.hk immediately. 

  • Applicants who submit hall application in Phase I will be informed of the result in early Aug. 2026.

  • Phase II applicants will receive result notification in late Aug, or later depending on their submission time of hall application.

Payment deadline of Hall Fee

18 Sep.

  • Debit note of hall fees will be issued to students once they have completed registration with the Academic Registry (AR) and got their student ID number. The debit note is available at the Student Account Portal here.
  • Timely payment of hall fees is an important part of student responsibility.

  • Failure to pay the hall fees by deadline will result in a late payment administration fee.

Check-in Date

24 or 25 Aug 2026

  • Hall offer email with expected check-in date and check-in arrangement will be sent to successful applicants from early August 2026.

9) Notes to All Applicants:

  1. Non-local undergraduate students admitted from 2023/24 onwards will, subject to the availability of residential places, normally be given an opportunity to stay in University-managed Accommodation (UMA - including the Student Halls and off-campus housing), for their first year of study (including the period of joining work-integrated-education/internship and/or outbound exchange programme, if any). Non-local undergraduate students are reminded to arrange their own accommodation outside the Student Halls from their second year of study onwards.
  2. The external wall of Homantin Halls will be maintained between July 2025 – June 2027. Smell, dust and noise will be kept to minimum level but cannot be avoided totally during the course of work.
  3. To address the imbalance between male and female hall places, a cluster of 14 rooms on every female floors of co-ed UG halls in Hung Hom Halls is set aside for male students. A typical floor plan shows the change here.
  4. The University reserves all rights on room arrangement. Students should understand that their preferences for hall, room type and roommate indicated in the application are not guaranteed.

10) Submit Hall Application:

Applicants, who have not yet completed the online registration with the Academic Registry via eAdmission, please login the system below with their application number.

Go to the Notice of Offer page, scroll down to "Student Halls of Residence" to complete and submit hall application between 10 Jun and 24 Jul (Phase I) or on or before 28 Aug 2026 (Phase II).

 

Please note that you can only access and submit hall application 1 – 2 working days after settlement of initial fee.

Applicants who have already completed the online registration with the Academic Registry and have a student ID number, please login the POSS system with your student ID and submit the hall application on or before 28 Aug 2026 (Phase II).
