Student Representatives of University Committees and Institutional Services 2025/2026
Student engagement in university governance is facilitated across all aspects, from catering services to health and safety, from culture promotion to student development and affairs, and so on.
The Student Development Section, SAO, coordinated the selection of student members to serve on University committees, as well as the appointment of student representatives to provide valuable inputs from student perspectives towards institutional services.
Out of the 140 applications from undergraduate and postgraduate students, 19 students have been appointed as student representatives across 7 University committees and liaison groups for the 2025/26 term.
To support them in their new responsibilities, the appointed representatives participated in the Whole-person Induction for Student ExComs and Representatives (The W.I.S.E.R.). An interactive induction workshop held on 28 October 2025 enabled participants to build connections, gain a clearer understanding of their roles, and exchange ideas on effective student representation.
The Training Day Camp on 2 November 2025 featured a series of team challenges and a high-element ropes course designed to foster trust, teamwork, and resilience. Through these experiential learning activities, participants developed a more proactive mindset and strengthened their ability to gather, synthesise, and communicate student feedback effectively.
To further enhance their leadership capabilities, a Communication and Presentation Workshop was held in January 2026, focusing on interpersonal effectiveness and practical skills in collecting, organising, and presenting student views. Together, these development opportunities equipped participants with the confidence and competencies needed to advocate for student interests and engage constructively with stakeholders.
The appointed representatives are now well-positioned to promote the spirit of “U Matter” and contribute meaningfully to the University's continuous development throughout their service term.
