From the Sea to the Sky

From the Sea to the Sky

Co-existence has been an important concept in environmental conservation and our students are taking it seriously. Over the past year, PolyU Wofoo Leaders’ Network has been organising activities that allow students to learn how we can play a role in saving our Earth. In February, our students went to Hoi Ha Marine Park to visit the coral community. Riding on the glass-bottomed boat, they were awed by the beauty and glamour of uncontaminated coral. The students got a glimpse of the favourable growing conditions for coral, thereby more equipped to the protection of the rare yet valuable asset of Hong Kong. "Connecting Through Nature: Shoreline Clean-up & Paddling Adventure" is another marine-friendly activity where the students volunteered to pick debris from the coastline.

Besides looking under the water, our students are also interested in the sky. PolyU SAO Astronomy Club has been hosting a wide range of activities that aim at facilitating participants to understand the solar system. Having a huge telescope with a few camping chairs may be the image that pops up in your mind but our students opt for more engaging ways. Through workshops and interesting games like “Name the Planet” and “Comic Treasure Hunt”, Astronomy Club offered chances for participants to learn and deepen their knowledge about the planets in a practical and hands-on manner.
