What Kinds of Support Do We Provide for Students with SEN?

Personalized Support

  • SEN Caring Team to coordinate support
  • Peer support (mainly for undergraduate students)*

Resources for Personal Development

  • Workshops
    You are cordially invited to join the following face-to-face training workshops conducted by Mr Kenneth Chow, an Educational Psychologist. These training workshops provide you with opportunities to enhance your executive functioning skills and know more about examination & study skills. Details are as follows:

    Workshop 1: Executive functioning skills (i.e. self-monitoring, self-control, time management, working memory and organization)
    Date: 5 September 2022 (Monday)
    Time: 2.30 pm - 4.00 pm
    Venue: DE401, 4/F, Lui Che Woo Building
    Quota: 8
    Content: 1. The importance of having a good habits
    2. How to improve personal management and self-control
    3. Skills on planning and organization
    4. Time management tools that work

    Workshop 2: Examination & study skills
    Date: 23 September 2022 (Friday)
    Time: 2.30 pm - 4.00 pm
    Venue: QR514, 5/F, Choi Kai Yau Building
    Quota: 8
    Content: 1. Systems that helps memory retrieval
    2. Effective note taking skills that helps revision
    3. Skills on planning your revision schedule
    4. Tips on sleep, nutrition and stress reduction exercises

    Remarks: These training workshops would be conducted in English (may be changed to Cantonese subject to the agreement of participants). 
    Application deadline: 31 August 2022 (Wednesday)

What Facilities and Resources Are Available for SEN Students?

Accessible Facilities

  • Library (24-hour Study Centre on 1/F North Wing): Computer workstation for students with all types of SEN. (You would receive our email when the access is ready for you.)
  • Library (Room L401a): A special equipment room equipped with computers and assistive aids for students with all types of SEN. (You would receive our email when the access is ready for you.)
  • Communal Building (Room S212)*: Computer workstation for students with all types of SEN during examination period. (Please contact us if you need to use the room.)
  • Room R405: A room mainly for students with physical impairment, with facilities e.g. adjustable beds, height adjustable tables, electric patient lifter, and computer workstations. (Please contact us if you need to use the room.)

Scholarships and Funding

Eligible students can apply for different scholarships and funding e.g. additional academic expenses grant for students with SEN. For more details, please click here and watch out for our email.


How Do SAO Enhance Inclusion Awareness on Campus and Encourage Integration?

Diversity Resource Centre
It is an inclusion hub for students, with various resources dedicated to enhancing understanding and acceptance. All students are welcome! For details, please click here.

“Limitless” - Inclusion Awareness Campaign

The campaign consists of a series of activities to foster better understanding about the challenges faced by persons with disabilities as well as students with SEN, to raise disability and diversity awareness on campus. For more information, please click here.
