On 1 January 2026, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) hosted a memorable flag-raising ceremony to usher in the New Year. This significant event was jointly performed by the PolyU Student Flag-Raising Team and the Guizhou University Flag Guards, who made a special journey to Hong Kong for the occasion.
The collaboration between both teams reflects PolyU's commitment to fostering strong ties and promoting national education initiatives. This effort was exemplified during the PolyU Student Flag-Raising Team's visit to Guizhou University on 19 May 2025, where meaningful exchanges took place.
Upon arriving in Hong Kong, the Guizhou University team immediately engaged in rehearsals and practices with the PolyU Student Flag-Raising Team. Both teams worked tirelessly together, culminating in a beautifully synchronised foot drill that showcased their dedication and commitment.
Following the joint practice, a tour of the University Gallery was organised. A dedicated docent from the PolyU Student Flag-Raising Team shared insights into the university's rich history and development, enlightening the visitors on its prestigious legacy since establishment.
The day culminated in a symposium that took place after the flag-raising ceremony, fostering discussions on national education initiatives between PolyU and Guizhou University. This event underscores PolyU's ongoing efforts to enhance awareness and understanding of national identity and values, paving the way for future collaborations and educational advancements.
