SAO hosted the Welcome Tea Reception for the 2025/26 Executive Committees of faculty/school/departmental associations and interest clubs on 4 August 2025. Around 100 student leaders of over 50 affiliated student organisations fostered connections among each other, strengthening their network to support future initiatives and collaborative events.
The annual event was a resounding success, emphasising its crucial role in nurturing PolyU student leaders to show their commitment be law-abiding organisations. The event kicked off with a video premiere of ‘A Transformative Journey of PolyU Student Organisations’, showcasing the learning journey of how past Ex-Com members emerged to be socially responsible student leaders with national and global perspectives, setting the stage for the occasion. This was followed by a warm motivating speech from Interim Dean of Students Ir Prof. Horace Mui, who guided the leaders as they prepare to organise Orientation activities to welcome new freshmen and enrich their campus life.
The most impactful highlights of the event featured a session on the Basic Law and National Security Legislation delivered by the Hong Kong Basic Law Foundation, and an interactive anti-corruption presentation by the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC). All student leaders had deepened their understanding of legal and ethical responsibilities. Student organisations’ leaders are encouraged to stay tuned with upcoming thematic talk series throughout their term of office.
