The W.I.S.E.R. marked the beginning of a new term: 2025/26 appointed student representatives of University Committees and Institutional Services

The Student Development Section, SAO coordinates student representation in 2025/26 non-elective positions across 7 University committees and liaison groups at the beginning of the new academic year. Passionate candidates who demonstrated strong communication and problem-solving abilities during the panel interviews and group discussions, as they shared their passion for bridging student voices to the University. Out of the 140 applications from undergraduate and postgraduate students, 19 students have been appointed for the one-year term from 1 November 2025 to 31 October 2026.

 

The non-elective posts have become the official platform for bridging student voices in campus aspects such as catering services, health and safety, culture promotion, student development and affairs, university campus development, library services, Industrial Centre and so on.

 

The appointed representatives received student development opportunities under the Whole-person Induction for Student ExComs and Representatives (The W.I.S.E.R.). The main goal of The W.I.S.E.R. student development  series is to nurture character building and whole-person development including a sense of purpose, to bring a positive impact to the community they belong to. To prepare them for their new roles, student representatives came together for an interactive Induction workshop on 28 October 2025. Through networking and rapport-building, the W.I.S.E.R. participants gained a clearer understanding of their responsibilities and engaged in a rich exchange of innovative ideas.

 

The Training Day Camp on 2 November was structured with various team challenges and a high-element rope course, focusing on developing trust. The day-camp activities reaped valuable outcomes from fostering a proactive mindset to refining skills for gathering and sharing student opinions. By the end of the full-day programme, our student representatives had acquired the core skills of taking the initiative to effectively represent their peers in the coming term as well as achieving personal growth.

 

The W.I.S.E.R. marked the formal commencement of their term. The appointed representatives are now positioned to play a crucial role in cultivating ‘U Matter’ awareness within their term of office.
