1) Summer Application Period: 13 April (10:00am) to 28 Apr 2026 (11:59pm)
2) Eligibility and Priority:

All current full-time students in UGC-funded degree programmes, including final year students, are eligible to apply for Summer Residence except students who have resided / are living in off-campus housing managed by the University in 2025-26. In case of overwhelming demand, priority will be offered to non-local students and current hall residents. Local applicants will be further prioritized by their living locations and home environment as detailed in part 1 and 2 of the Point Scoring Mechanism (PSM).

On the condition that excess hall places are available, other full-time students will also be considered. Similarly, non-local students will be given higher priority and local students will be further prioritized by their living locations and home environment.

3) Hall Regulations:

Students once admitted shall comply with Regulations Governing Summer Hall Residence of respective hall (Hung Hom / Homantin). Applicants should read the terms stated in the above-mentioned website before submitting their hall applications.

4) Room Change (for current hall residents)

Due to the admission of summer guests and to optimise room usage, current residents will be required to move to another room for summer residence between 5 and 7 June 2026 unless otherwise notified. If students cannot complete the room transfer in time, they shall be liable for a) a penalty of $100 per day, b) lodging fee of the old and new rooms until the completion date of room change, and c) other administration fees as necessary.

6) Application Procedures and Schedule:

Applicants should pay attention to the following application procedures and schedule, and be responsible to check with the Hall Administration for not receiving the relevant email notification timely. Late application, hall offer acceptance, and/or payment will generally not be accepted.

(studentid@connect.polyu.hk) of the applicant.

Deadline of online offer acceptance

12 May

Applicants should indicate acceptance of hall offers before deadline. Otherwise, their hall offers will be regarded as "declined" by default.

Deadline of hall fees payment

17 May

Settle the debit note before the deadline, or your summer offer will be cancelled automatically.

*Successful applicants can only pair-up with friend(s) who is/are of the same gender and be assigned to the same hall building and same room type.

*Successful applicants of current residents will be allocated to the same hall building where they are living.

7) Notes to Applicants

Before submitting application, students are highly advised to read the following important notes:

a. To address the imbalance between male and female hall places, a cluster of 14 rooms on every female floors of co-ed UG halls in Hung Hom Halls is set aside for male students. A typical floor plan shows the change here.
b. Renovation work in Hung Hom Halls and Homantin Halls in this summer:

i. Hung Hom Halls:

Renovation work in student rooms numbered 45 to 88 from 3/F to 10/F East Wing are underway during summer. Students living in the affected rooms will be required to move to another room.

Due to the tight working schedule, we need your kind collaboration in completing the room change as scheduled, or an administration charge and lodging fee of the old and new rooms shall be levied. The University reserves the right to pack and move the items remained in the room to the targeted room if necessary. The University disclaims any liability for the loss of and damage to the personal properties incurred in this connection.

ii. Homantin Halls:

The external wall of Homantin Halls will be maintained during the summer period. Smell, dust and noise will be kept to minimum level but cannot be avoided totally during the course of work.

By submitting the hall application, you acknowledge the above-mentioned maintenance / repainting works and accept the expected nuisance and inconvenience caused. Dissatisfaction with the possible nuisance and inconvenience will not be accepted as the reason for withdrawal of hall residence and refund request for hall fees incurred will not be considered.

c. Leave Hong Kong during summer residence:

If you need to leave Hong Kong during the summer and cannot conduct the room change as scheduled, please complete the Authorization Form to authorize another in-house resident to change room on your behalf. The form should be submitted to hall counter or sent to student.halls@polyu.edu.hk / homantin.halls@polyu.edu.hk through your PolyU email account at least two working days before the scheduled room change period. To be released of the administration charges, you should also ensure that your authorized person will complete the room change for you in time.

8) Special notes to current hall residents:

If you checkout on or before 29 May 2026, your summer application will be cancelled automatically. In case you have already accepted the summer offer and settled the relevant hall fees, a cancellation fee of $700 will be incurred.

9) Late Applications

Students may submit LATE applications at POSS starting from 6 May. Late applicants have lower priority in hall admission and the Hall Administration reserves the right to reject their applications in case of insufficient places. In addition, they will not be eligible to submit pair-up request.

10) Check-out

To prepare rooms for the new residential year, summer residents must check-out on or before the last day of summer residence. Otherwise, they will be liable for a) a fine of $200 per day; b) the daily lodging fee up to the date of completion of formal check-out procedures, and c) a cleaning fee for clearing their unwanted items if deemed necessary. Failure to check-out in time disrupts the orderly operation of the halls and is regarded as a violation of hall regulations. Increased fine and disciplinary actions will be imposed for cases of prolonged overstay.

Summer Extension (the period between Summer Residence and the next Residential Year)

Summer residents who have hall offers of the next academic year can apply for Summer Extension Period. Eligible students will be informed about the application details in due course.

Summer extension residents are required to process a room change / hall building change for their room allocation of AY 2026/27, tentatively scheduled between 14 and 16 August 2026. Students who failed to complete the room / hall building change by the specified deadline shall be subject to a daily penalty charge (HK$100/day for room change within the same hall building, late checkout fee of HK$200/day for hall building change), on top of the lodging fee of the new and old rooms up to the completion date of room / hall building change.
