Outstanding Alumni Award of PolyU Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies 2026
The Outstanding Alumni Award aims to give public recognition to outstanding graduates for their professional achievements and significant contributions to the community and their alma mater. We are pleased to announce the following awardees of the Outstanding Alumni Award of PolyU Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies 2026 for their remarkable achievements.
Prof. Hugo Lam Kin-sang - Outstanding Senior Alumni Award 2026
Graduated in PhD in Operations Management (2015) and MSc in Operations Management (2011)
Professor Hugo Lam joined the University of Liverpool Management School in 2015 after earning his PhD in Operations Management from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is currently Chair Professor in Operations Management and Director of Research (Operations and Supply Chain Management) at the University of Liverpool. Professor Lam’s research focuses on the operational implications of emerging technologies and sustainable supply chain management. His work has been published in leading Operations Management journals, including Management Science, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Operations Management (JOM), and International Journal of Operations & Production Management (IJOPM). He also serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief of IJOPM and Associate Editor of JOM and has held Guest Editor roles for several other Operations Management journals. His contributions to teaching and research have been recognised through numerous awards, including Certificates of Teaching Excellence and several Outstanding Paper Awards. He was named Early Career Researcher of the Year by the University of Liverpool in 2016, awarded a Leverhulme Research Fellowship by the Leverhulme Trust in 2020, and appointed Eminent Research Scholar by the University of Melbourne in 2023.
Mr Wang Zhenzhen - Outstanding Young Alumni Award 2026
Graduated in MSc in Quality Management (2024)
Mr Wang Zhenzhen founded Zhejiang Xinwangzhen Technology Co., Ltd.in 2011. Mr Wang has been serving as Chairman and General Manager, leads and develops Zhejiang Xinwangzhen into a national high-tech Enterprise with 30 invention patents, and award Zhejiang Provincial Specialized, Refined, Unique & Innovative SME, and Mr Wang was recognised as the 2025 New Digital Zhejiang Entrepreneurs.
Xinwangzhen has its own R&D centre and specialising in innovative applications of big data and artificial intelligence products. Its products and solutions are widely applied in various critical fields such as Smart-City Brain, smart cultural tourism, smart emergency response system, serving more than 3,000 government and enterprise clients. The company completed its Series A financing in 2018 with valuation of RMB 200 million. In 2025, Xinwangzhen successfully incubated Aida Health, China’s first vertical large language model (LLM) focusing on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) healthcare and wellness. Aida Health was officially launched in 2025 and has gained widespread industry attention and recognition from industry specialists and end users for its professional AI-TCM capabilities.
Dr Yu Shing-chung - Outstanding Senior Alumni Award 2026
Graduated in BSc (Hons) in Global Supply Chain Management (2004)
Dr John Yu is a seasoned logistics professional and the Senior Head of Operations at Aramex Hong Kong Limited, overseeing operations and product development in South China and Hong Kong. A highly accomplished academic and practitioner, he holds a Doctor of Business Administration along with two Master’s degrees in Industrial Logistics Systems and Knowledge Management, both graduated with distinctions.
As Chairperson of the Logistics Policy Committee and a Council Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong (CILTHK), Dr Yu has a proven track record of industry leadership. He successfully hosted the “Modern Logistics Summit – The GBA” at PolyU and pioneered two comprehensive surveys examining ESG awareness and smart logistics perception within the sector. These studies provided critical insights that have helped benchmark the industry, identify strategic gaps, and shape sustainable development policies for Hong Kong’s transport and logistics ecosystem.
Dr Yu extends his expertise to public service as an appointed Expert for the Port Community System (PCS) Development Project’s Industry Expert Liaison Group, and a Member of the Customer Liaison Group (CLG) on Trade Matters under the Census and Statistics Department. Dedicated to nurturing the next generation of logistics talent, he is a Visiting Lecturer at PolyU CPCE and has authored five books alongside more than 170 articles across diverse media platforms.
