IML, a PolyVenture, Signs MoU with KSC and CVI to Advance 100% “Made-in-Hong-Kong” Eco-Friendly Antimicrobial Plastics

Immune Materials Limited (IML), a PolyVenture founded by Prof. Chris Lo, is pleased to announce a strategic collaboration with Kin Sang Chemical Ltd.(KSC) and CVI Modern Technology Development Limited (CVI) to jointly advance the development of eco-friendly antimicrobial plastics that are fully developed and manufactured in Hong Kong. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University by Prof. Chris Lo (Founder of IML), Mr Terry Cheng (Managing Director of KSC), and Mr Robert Yan (Director of CVI). The signing ceremony was witnessed by Prof. Christopher Chao, PolyU Senior Vice President (Research and Innovation); Mr Fan Yanfeng, Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Division of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Fujian Provincial People’s Government; and Hon. Mr Roy Wong, Legislative Council Representative of the Industrial Sector and Vice Chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries—reflecting strong policy, industry, and cross-regional support for research-driven advanced manufacturing. This partnership integrates complementary strengths across the entire plastics value chain: IML’s university-originated antimicrobial materials research and intellectual property, CVI’s expertise in materials engineering and scalable manufacturing, and KSC’s extensive global plastics and chemicals sales and supply-chain network connecting international brands with manufacturing clients. With the support of Fujian provincial authorities, the collaboration also aims to facilitate the integration of Hong Kong-developed antimicrobial innovations into Fujian’s globally competitive manufacturing ecosystems, particularly in footwear, functional textiles, and washroom and sanitary products. Fujian hosts some of the world’s most advanced and complete supply chains in these sectors, serving leading international brands. The partnership creates a clear pathway for Hong Kong-originated technologies to be validated, scaled, and adopted within world-class industrial clusters, while retaining core R&D, intellectual property, and advanced materials development in Hong Kong. The initial outcomes of this collaboration will be showcased internationally at CHINAPLAS 2026 (Shanghai) in the Innovative Technology Products zone, highlighting Hong Kong’s capability to translate academic research into globally competitive industrial solutions. Prof. Lo’s research on antimicrobial materials and operations safety underpins this collaboration and has been selected as a PolyU Research Impact Case for RAE 2026. The work has also received the PolyU Business School Knowledge Transfer (Industry) Award 2025, underscoring its demonstrable impact on public health, industrial practice, and sustainable manufacturing.
