PolyU delegation visit to Southeast Asia strengthens partnerships with top universities

Delegation Visit_pic5Between 22 and 26 January, a senior PolyU delegation visited several top universities in Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam to strengthen our global academic partnerships and explore opportunities for joint initiatives.

The delegation, led by Council Chairman Dr Lam Tai-fai and including President Professor Jin-Guang Teng and Vice President (Student and Global Affairs) Professor Ben Young, visited the National University of Singapore and Singapore Management University to strengthen future partnership collaborations. At a series of meetings, as well as during laboratory and site visits, representatives from the institutions shared expertise and insights.Delegation Visit_pic4

President Teng and Prof. Young also met with representatives from universities in Vietnam and Malaysia, including Ton Duc Thang University, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, Universiti Malaya and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, all featuring among their nation’s top three tertiary institutions, to identify possible collaboration opportunities. In addition, they visited a high school for the gifted in Ho Chi Minh City, giving a talk overviewing PolyU’s development plans to hundreds of Grade 10 to 12 students, which was well-received and stimulated a number of questions from students.

It was our honour to have Mr Owin Fung, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Singapore join us for the occasion.
