Outstanding Alumni Award of PolyU Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies 2025

The Outstanding Alumni Award aims to give public recognition to outstanding graduates for their professional achievements and significant contributions to the community and their alma mater. We are pleased to announce the following awardees of the Outstanding Alumni Award of PolyU Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies 2025 for their remarkable achievements.

 

Dr Joseph Lau Yui-yip - Outstanding Senior Alumni Award 2025

Dr Lau is Head of Student Affairs, Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader (Associate in Business – Logistics and Supply Chain Management) at College of Professional and Continuing Education, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Dr Lau has demonstrated exemplary strategic leadership as the head of the PolyU CPCE Student Affairs Office (SAO), consistently advancing the institution’s mission to foster holistic student development. Through his visionary guidance, Dr Lau has spearheaded a comprehensive suite of initiatives spanning six critical domains: (1) Contribution and Services, (2) Counselling Services, (3) Global Exposure, (4) Leadership and Future Skills, (5) Physical Wellness, and (6) Psychological Wellness. These initiatives are thoughtfully designed to empower students, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to make meaningful societal contributions and achieve their personal and professional aspirations. Dr Lau’s impact is particularly evident in his ability to conceptualise and execute high-impact student engagement campaigns that are closely aligned with the College’s long-term strategic objectives. Recognising the importance of a vibrant campus life, he has introduced a series of innovative and inclusive programmes—such as the Sustainable Fashion Show, Singing Contest, Chinese Culture Festival, and Across Life and Death Expo—that have significantly enriched the student experience. These initiatives not only foster a lively and supportive campus atmosphere but also provide students with invaluable opportunities for personal growth, creative expression, and community involvement.

 

Mr Billy Yeung Wai-piu - Outstanding Young Alumni Award 2025

Mr Yeung began his career with DKSH Hong Kong Limited in 2010 as a Management Trainee and has since advanced to the position of Senior Director of Supply Chain Management for Hong Kong, Macau, and Mainland China. In this role, he oversees comprehensive supply chain operations across these three markets, managing a workforce of over 250 employees and facilities spanning more than 1,000,000 square feet. He also leads the development of customised logistics solutions, with a strong focus on Cross-Border Solutions for potential 3PL clients.

Throughout his tenure at DKSH, Mr Yeung has led numerous sustainability and innovation initiatives, including warehouse process modernisation, the introduction of green pallets, digitalisation of ordering systems, and the creation of end-to-end emission tracking solutions.

 

Prof. Zhang Xiaofei - Outstanding Young Alumni Award 2025

Prof. Zhang is Professor of Information Systems in School of Management, Harbin Institute of Technology. His main research areas include Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI), Electronic Health (eHealth), and Platform Economy. His research has been published in MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, and Information & Management. He has achieved an H-index of 30 based on Google Scholar.

Prof. Zhang has won several best paper awards, including European Journal of Information Systems Best Paper Nomination, the ICIS Healthcare IT Best Paper Award and the HICSS Best Paper Nomination Award. He serves as associate editor, editorial board member, and session chair for several international journals and conferences.
