The 4th GARS Online Panel discussion was held on 9 June 2020. The discussion clearly highlighted how different passenger and air cargo markets have been affected by the Coronavirus outbreak. The strong reduction in air passenger demand, the grounding of aircraft and the corresponding drastic reduction in belly capacity together with the high demand for the transportation of, for instance, medical supplies lead to booming markets for freighter airlines. The growth of e-commerce is likely to support the air cargo business also in the future despite potential setbacks related to trade wars.
