With our long history in the industry, PolyU Engineering has been recognised as a leading institution of its kind in Hong Kong. On top of that, we have achieved high global rankings: In the Center for World University Rankings by Subject 2017, both our Civil Engineering and Construction & Building Technology have been ranked 4th among universities worldwide. We have also been ranked 10th in QS World University Rankings 2017 of Civil and Structural Engineering. Such successes testify our efforts in the past years and also endorses our future research and education.

Programmes of the Faculty of Construction and Environment

PolyU offers a wide range of construction programmes under the Faculty of Construction and Environment, the biggest provider for higher education in construction in Hong Kong. The four divisions of the faculty are: Department of Building and Real Estate, Department of Building Services Engineering, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics. Each department is mature enough to conduct research and development that can address major engineering challenges. Students are led and inspired by high calibre staff members, who have been contributing to international journals and conferences. We understand that in the 21st century, major breakthroughs and discoveries come from close links between different institutions. That is why we strive to forge and maintain a strong network with the industry, which also benefits the transfer of knowledge in our construction programmes and the prospect of our graduates. We have also designed a set of student exchange programmes to encourage both in- and out-bound exchange students.

  1. Application-oriented Research for Excellence

  2. Research profile of PolyU Engineering is broad and diverse. Being the largest contributor of university-based research, the Faculty of Construction and Environment has put significant effort on sustainable urban development and the design of smart cities.

  3. In order to discover more profound solutions for urban city design, eight research centres have been established to facilitate our researches in construction, energy, environment, urban hazards mitigation and urban-informatics. We hope that through these pioneering researches, we can go beyond the traditional boundaries of engineering and bring brighter future to our society.
