Studying in the BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy programme at PolyU has been a remarkable journey that is shaping me into a competent and compassionate physiotherapist. With abundant laboratory resources, I have gained a comprehensive understanding of human anatomy and the application of innovative technologies in real-world practice. I am also grateful to be surrounded by supportive teachers who are willing to answer questions and offer guidance on my academic work.

Apart from academic achievement, this programme also nurtures students’ empathy by encouraging us to participate in community services. This virtue is essential for future physiotherapists who have to understand and serve their patients with sensitivity and respect. The diverse extra-curricular activities, such as Photo Day and the Caduceus Cup enriched my university life and strengthened my sense of belonging as a physiotherapy student.

What truly sets our programme apart is the strong cohesion and bonding among PT students. We share learning materials generously, cheer for one another during sports events, and practise side by side during practical sessions, constantly improving together. Most importantly, having friends with the same goal of becoming skilled physiotherapists energises me to study hard and learn proactively. This sense of companionship gives me confidence as I look toward my future career.

Studying in the BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy programme at PolyU brings me immense pleasure. This 4-year programme not only provides me with a comprehensive education, but also offers invaluable opportunities to acquire a broad range of knowledge and practical experience ranging from the implementation of cutting-edge technologies to on-field practice. One aspect of our classroom experience that I deeply appreciate is the active participation and inquisitiveness of my fellow students. We frequently engage in stimulating discussions and ask numerous questions, and I am immensely grateful to our professors for their patient responses each time. In addition, we form study groups outside the classroom where we collaborate and support one another, share our learning experiences and collectively prepare for exams. This collaborative environment fosters our proactive approach to learning. 

One indispensable aspect of our education is the clinical placements, which I consider an essential component of my learning journey. Through these placements, I have had the privilege of working with real patients under the guidance of experienced clinical educators. This hands-on experience not only enhances my knowledge but also equips me with up-to-date practical skills, ensuring that I become a competent physiotherapist in the future. 

In addition to these invaluable learning opportunities, my time at PolyU has been enriched by various extracurricular activities. The PolyU student community has been instrumental in organising a wide range of events, such as orientation camps, photo days and sports competitions. These activities have not only allowed me to have a great time but have also provided me with the opportunity to meet wonderful individuals who have become true friends. 

Overall, my journey as a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy student at PolyU has been fulfilling due to a holistic education that combines theoretical knowledge, practical experience and memorable social interactions. I am grateful for the treasured learning opportunities and the vibrant university life that have contributed to shaping me into a well-rounded individual and a future competent physiotherapist.

My studies in the BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy programme at PolyU have been an enjoyable and remarkable journey, equipping me with the skills and attitudes needed to be a competent and compassionate physiotherapist. In my first year of study, utilising the abundant resources in the anatomy lab has enabled me to understand anatomy comprehensively, which is an indispensable foundation for professional physiotherapy practice. The early exposure to and practise with various innovative technologies also helps us become familiar with future on-field practice scenarios. Opportunities to practice under the guidance of clinical educators not only enhance our competence but also help nurture core attitudes like empathy. One of the most valuable aspects of the programme is the teachers who consistently share their vast knowledge with students and guide them in finding answers to their questions. We also have an unbreakable bond with our peers at PolyU. We never hesitate to help each other, practise together, and improve as a team. I truly enjoy studying physiotherapy at PolyU and am honoured to be part of this big family.

It has been a challenging but immensely enjoyable year for me on the BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy programme at PolyU. The significant responsibility we hold as future healthcare professionals entails intensive studying with a rigorous approach. It was no easy task, but thanks to the plentiful support from the teaching staff and technology, we were able to learn without obstruction. Personally, the complete anatomy app and open laboratory sessions have been tremendously helpful in recognising the various muscles, ligaments, and vessels of the human body. The encouraging messages from the teaching staff reminded us of the importance of building a solid knowledge foundation in the early years to prepare for the upcoming placement sessions and hands-on practices. The teaching staff also provide quick and thorough answers to all our questions. Finally, the close bond established between physiotherapy students during our endeavours has made us reliable partners in study and colleagues with great chemistry as physiotherapists in the future. I feel incredibly lucky to have studied on this programme, and it is my honour and pride to be a member of the PolyU family.

My experience in the PolyU Physiotherapy programme has been highly rewarding. During my first two semesters, I had the opportunity to meet new people, receive professional training, and acquire a wide range of new skills and techniques. One of the highlights of my first year was shadowing at the University Physiotherapy Clinic, where I gained early exposure to different patient needs and real clinical situations.

These experiences, as well as various extra-curricular opportunities, have helped me understand the important responsibility physiotherapists hold in delivering effective, patient-centred care. I am also grateful for the support and guidance from the teaching staff, who have helped me appreciate the importance of adopting a “patient-first” mindset throughout my learning journey.

I look forward to the many learning opportunities PolyU will offer in the coming semesters, and I hope to make full use of them to continue developing myself as a future physiotherapist and healthcare professional.
