Application Procedures and Admission Process
Non-JUPAS Year 1

Direct Application to PolyU

If you are seeking admission based on international qualifications (e.g. International Baccalaureate, GCE A-level / International A-level) or post-secondary qualifications (e.g. Associate Degree, Higher Diploma), you must apply directly to PolyU via our eAdmission.

If you are applying with your HKDSE results, you must submit your application through JUPAS, unless you belong to the group of applicants specified below*. Please click here for details about JUPAS.

* Holders of a dependant visa / entry permit who were under 18 years old when their dependant visa / entry permit was first issued by the Immigration Department of the HKSAR, and who cannot provide the required documentary proof for fulfillment of the residency requirement, should submit their applications directly to PolyU via our eAdmission.

Please, however, note that you can only apply via ONE of these two routes for schemes / programmes offered under JUPAS in the same academic year. If you apply through JUPAS and directly to PolyU concurrently, your direct application to PolyU will NOT be considered.

Application Fee

The application fee, which is non-refundable, should be settled upon the submission of an application. Otherwise, the application will not be further processed. You can also click here to view the details on other accepted payment methods. Please note that other than the specified application fee, you are not required to pay any money to any persons in connection with your application.

Confirmation of Your Application

After submitting your online application, you will be given a PolyU application number as an acknowledgement of receipt. Please quote this number in your future correspondence with us.

Upload Additional Documents

Applicants are required to upload scanned copies of the academic certificate(s)/ transcript(s) for qualifications as claimed in their application, as well as any supporting document(s) specifically required for the applying scheme / programme. Failure to upload the required documents may affect your chances of admission or prolong the application process.

If these documents are not in English or Chinese, you are required to provide official translated documents in English; otherwise, your application may not be considered.

If your results are not yet available upon submission of your application, please indicate the forthcoming date(s) on which the results will be available. For applicants taking IB or GCE/ International A-Level, please ask your school to send us the predicted public examination results for our preliminary assessment. Once the results are available, please update the relevant sections of the online application form and upload the document(s) indicating your latest results.

Applicants may log in to eAdmission anytime to upload the transcript/ score report for new qualifications or academic results.

"Academic Referee" Section

For documents like "Predicted Score Report" or "reference letter" which are considered as "confidential" by your school / institution, please

(1) Fill in "Academic Referee" section under eAdmission and then a system generated email will be sent to your designated school counselor or referee. They are able to provide the predicted scores via the online system*, or

(2) Ask them to send us the relevant documents by email (polyu.ugdirect@polyu.edu.hk).

* The system generated email will only be sent to the counselor / referee after applicants submitted the application and paid the application fee.

Counselors / Referees are normally given one to two weeks to submit the required documents via the designated link. If counselors / referees need more time to prepare for the documents, they could do so by submitting the supporting information to our university by email (polyu.ugdirect@polyu.edu.hk). In the email, the applicant's name and PolyU application number must be clearly quoted for keeping track of record.

Interview Arrangement

While interviews are generally not mandatory, Academic departments may notify shortlisted applicants of the interview arrangement individually by email. Applicants are advised to attend the interviews as scheduled since re-arrangement may not be possible. If they fail to do so, their applications may not be further considered. Please click here to view the details.

If you are given an offer or a conditional offer, you will be informed via email and/or SMS. You may also login to eAdmission to check your application result.
