Local and non-local applicants are considered under different admissions schemes. Only local applicants are eligible for admission through Non-JUPAS. Non-local applicants seeking admission should refer to International Qualifications or current JEE qualifications for further details.

Local applicants mainly refer to holders of the documents below:

• Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card 
• Documents issued by the Immigration Department of the HKSAR showing right to land / right of abode in Hong Kong
• One-way Permit for entry to Hong Kong
• Dependant visa / entry permit (for students who were below 18 years old when their Dependant visa / entry permit was first issued by the Immigration Department of the HKSAR)*
• Visa label for unconditional stay

*Applicants who fulfil the residency requirement are eligible for government-subsidised tuition fees. Otherwise, they will be required to pay the tuition fees equivalent to the non-local rate.

Applicants are required to submit a copy of their HKID and the relevant supporting documents to verify their local status. Applicants are responsible for notifying us immediately by email at polyu.ugdirect@polyu.edu.hk of any change to their identity documents that may affect their local/non-local status or eligibility. Please note that if any application information or document submitted, including local / non-local status, eligibility status, nationality, supporting documents, is found to be incorrect, misleading or altered, the admission offer may be cancelled and any fees paid will not be refunded.
