Student Message

As a student of Building Services Engineering (now Building Sciences and Engineering) at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), I had the opportunity to learn from some of the most knowledgeable and experienced professors in the field. The curriculum was rigorous and challenging, but also highly rewarding.

One of the highlights of my academic journey was the opportunity to work on various group system design projects with classmates from diverse backgrounds. These projects not only allowed us to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired in class but also fostered teamwork and communication skills, which will be very useful for my future career.

Aside from academic courses, the university offers a wide range of extracurricular activities such as sports clubs, workshops, and social events. These opportunities enabled me to meet new people and expand my horizons.

Overall, my experience at PolyU was challenging and rewarding, equipping me me well for the future.

I was very fortunate to have chosen this programme, as it allowed me to learn from many world-class professors. The department also has extensive professional laboratory facilities, providing a high-quality learning environment and learning process. My most memorable experience was my third year internship at Sanfield (Management) Limited, a subsidiary of Sun Hung Kai Properties, where I was able to put into practice the latest technologies and standards learnt in class, such as Building Information Modelling (BIM).

During my fourth year, I had the opportunity to participate in a semester exchange at the National University of Singapore. This experience enabled me to step out of my comfort zone, broaden my horizons, and learn more about local green building designs.

After graduation, I aim to obtain professional qualifications and become a registered building services engineer. Studying in the BSE programme allowed me to participate in the "Scheme A" training programme, which has facilitated my progression towards this goal. Now, I am a Building Services Engineering Graduate working in the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) in Hong Kong.
