AMA Scholars Named Among the World’s Top 2% Most-Cited Scientists 2026

9 Oct 2026

News

We are proud to announce that scholars from the Department of Applied Mathematics have been recognized among the World’s Top 2% Most-Cited Scientists in the latest database released by Stanford University and Elsevier on 7 October 2026 (version 9).

This prestigious recognition underscores the enduring scholarly impact, research excellence, and international influence generated by AMA scholars across applied mathematics, operational research, statistics and financial mathematics.

Created by Stanford University’s Prof. John P.A. Ioannidis and published by Elsevier, the database evaluates researchers globally using a composite citation indicator (c-score). Rather than raw publication counts, the c-score measures impact through citations, h-index, and authorship positions.

Based on an August 2026 Scopus snapshot updated through 2025, scientists are classified across 20 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields. The selection identifies the top 100,000 scientists worldwide or those ranking in the top 2% within their sub-field.

The database features two distinct categories:

  1. Career-Long Impact: Assesses cumulative citation metrics across a researcher’s entire academic career up to the end of 2025.
  2. Single-Year Impact (2025 Data): Focuses on citation citations and scholarly influence received during calendar year 2025.

The Department extends its warmest congratulations to all recognized scholars for their outstanding achievements and ongoing dedication to advancing scientific knowledge.
