Biography

Prof. Zheng Xiang is Professor and Head of the Howard Feiertag Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech. In Fall 2026 he is a Visiting Professor in School of Hotel and Tourism Management at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research focuses on the strategic implications of information technologies for the hospitality and tourism industry. He served as President of the International Federation for IT and Travel & Tourism (IFITT) (2020-2021) and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Information Technology & Tourism (2017-2025). He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters. He was recognized by Web of Science as a “Highly Cited Researcher” five years in a row (2019-2023). He is the recipient of the inaugural Jacob A. Lutz III Award for Eminent Scholars 2024 by Virginia Tech, 2024.
