Master of Technology Entrepreneurship (MTE)

Programme Structure

    Students are required to complete a total of 37 credits, comprising:

    • 16 credits including:
      • 3 core subjects and 2 elective subjects (3 credits each)
      • Academic Integrity and Ethics in Business  (1 credit)
    • 21 credits from Project:
      • Project Part 1: Research (6 credits)
      • Project Part 2: Start-up (15 credits)*

    *"Project Part 2: Start-up" subject should be completed at the MTRI.

List of Core and Elective Subjects

Students are required to take ONE of the following subjects (3 credits each):

  1. Future Technologies: New Materials, Energy and Environmental Innovation
  2. Future Technologies: Health Sciences and Medical Innovation
  3. Future Technologies: Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Industries

Students are required to take the following TWO subjects (3 credits each):

  1. Introduction to Technology-based Entrepreneurship
  2. Entrepreneurial Finance and Legal Considerations

Students are required to complete the following TWO projects:

  1. Project Part 1: Research (6 credits)
  2. Project Part 2: Start-up (15 credits)*

*"Project Part 2: Start-up" subject should be completed at the MTRI.

Students are required to take the following TWO subjects (3 credits each):

  1. Design and Development of Technological Product
  2. Entrepreneurial Strategy and Business Venturing
  3. Technology Entrepreneurship Internship
  4. Entrepreneurial Workshops

Students are required to take the following subject:

  • Academic Integrity and Ethics in Business (1 credit)

Teaching Arrangements

Class Schedule: Taught subjects are delivered in an intensive block mode of four to five days each month, typically scheduled from Friday to Monday. Classes continue as scheduled during summer terms.

Location: Classes are held at PolyU campus and at the Mainland Technology and Innovation Research Institute (MTRI).

Medium of Instruction: The programme is taught primarily in Chinese, supplemented by English.
