Capstone × PolyU Summer Debate Classic 2026 🎤🧠

The HK PolyU English Debate Club is proud to co‑host the Capstone × PolyU Summer Debate Classic 2026 in collaboration with Capstone Debate HK.

Held on 16 August 2026 (Sunday) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hung Hom, this tournament will bring together passionate young debaters from schools across Hong Kong to challenge themselves, exchange ideas, and experience the excitement of competitive debating.

This year’s motions will explore key issues in Artificial Intelligence and technology 🤖, encouraging participants to reflect on innovation, ethics, and the impact of emerging technologies. Through these discussions, the tournament aims to inspire young minds to think critically about AI‑driven futures, aligning closely with PolyU’s vision of nurturing future‑ready talents in innovation and technology.

Open to students aged 9 to 12, the event welcomes both new and experienced debaters from public, private, and international schools across Hong Kong. Speakers from different schools are encouraged to form composite teams to enhance collaboration and diversity of thought.

🗣 Event Details

Date: August 16th 2026

Venue: The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hung Hom, Kowloon

Eligibility: Students aged 9 to 12. Speakers from different schools are allowed to form a composite team.

Format: Junior World Schools Debating Championship (Teams of 3 to 5 students delivering 4‑minute speeches, 30 minutes’ preparation time for impromptu topics)

Registration Fees:

- HKD 200 per person (for Capstone students)

- HKD 250 per person (for non‑Capstone students)

- HKD 250 per person (for observers)

The registration fee is inclusive of lunch, adjudication, certificates, name tags, event merchandise, trophies, and awards.
