Mission
With Linguistic Excellence in Professional Contexts as its mission, the Department of English and Communication is committed to:
- Providing high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate education in applied linguistics and professional communication that equips students with advanced English proficiency, critical thinking skills, and professional expertise for success in local and global workplaces;
- Preparing graduates for diverse professional pathways by integrating theory and practice in areas such as business communication, media, English education, health communication, publishing, corporate training, and intercultural professions;
- Advancing impactful, interdisciplinary research in language and communication, including professional and health communication, language teaching and learning, applied linguistics, media studies, and intercultural and area studies;
- Cultivating socially responsible, culturally aware, and globally minded communicators who can navigate multilingual, multicultural, and digitally mediated environments with ethical awareness and professional competence.
