President's Sharing Session with Students: Fostering Open Dialogue and Building a Better PolyU

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) held the first President's Sharing Session with Students of the 2023/24 academic year on 28 March, 2024, demonstrating the University's commitment to continuous communication and engagement with students. Over 30 students actively participated in the session, which provided a platform for exchanging views and raising questions directly to the Central Management Team (CMT). The session commenced with a comprehensive presentation by President Teng, who shared the latest updates on PolyU's developments and initiatives. President Teng emphasised the University's dedication to providing a holistic and supportive learning environment for all students. The Vice President (Student and Global Affairs) Prof. Ben Young then took the stage to elaborate on the diverse range of student support and services offered by PolyU.  He encouraged students to utilize these services to enhance their university experience and achieve their academic and personal goals. The highlight of the session was an engaging Q&A session, where students had the opportunity to directly address their concerns and questions to the CMT members. Topics raised included campus access and facilities, non-local student support, and study-related issues. The CMT members listened attentively and provided thoughtful responses, demonstrating their commitment to understanding and addressing students' needs. The President's Sharing Session served as a valuable platform for the CMT to engage with students and gain insights into their experiences and challenges. By fostering open dialogue and actively addressing student concerns, PolyU reaffirms its commitment to building an inclusive university community.

Presentation Ceremony for the Outstanding Student Award & Presidential Student Leadership Award 2023

We are thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of the Presentation Ceremony for the Outstanding Student Award & Presidential Student Leadership Award 2023, held on 26 Mar!  It was a day filled with celebration and recognition of PolyU's exceptional students who have demonstrated unwavering dedication to their academic pursuits and exhibited extraordinary leadership qualities. Join us in applauding the Most Outstanding PolyU Student, Miss WONG Sze Lam, from the Faculty of Construction & Environment, for her outstanding achievements and remarkable contributions! And let's not forget to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mr WANG Yanze from the Faculty of Engineering, who has earned the President's Distinguished Student Leadership Award! We are immensely proud of all our award recipients and the bright futures they are destined to create. ICAC Ambassador Programme 2023/2024

PolyU and The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) collaborate annually to implement the ICAC Ambassador Programme, with the primary aim of actively engaging students in supporting ICAC's efforts towards integrity and anti-corruption. The programme entails a year-long engagement for selected ICAC Ambassadors, including leadership training, mentoring, and project design and management. Through their participation, students have the opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of ICAC's mission, explore topics related to integrity and commitment, and enhance their skills through collaborative promotional initiatives. In the current academic year, the PolyU ICAC Ambassadors for the 23/24 cohort, known as '乖巧皮諾丘,' have successfully organised a diverse range of activities in February and March to promote the values of probity and disseminate the positive principles championed by ICAC. These activities included the "ICAC Info Week" fun fair, the "Unraveling ICAC" sharing session, and aroma stone workshops.

18 PolyU Students Awarded Link University Scholarship 2023/24

Eighteen PolyU students, first-generation university entrants, have been awarded a Link University Scholarship 2023/24. The Scholarships recognise outstanding performance in academics and community services, and serve as encouragement on the students’ path to pursuing their dreams. The outstanding PolyU students were presented the Scholarship certificate at the Link University Scholarship Presentation Ceremony on 2 March 2024.

Exploring the Vibrant World of PolyU Interest Clubs: A Captivating Journey with ViuTV's 大學關鍵詞   We are delighted to announce that the first and second episodes of our three-part series featuring PolyU interest clubs have already been broadcast on 17 and 24 February 2024. This collaboration with ViuTV's programme, "大學關鍵詞" (University Keywords), showcases the unique contributions of our interest clubs, highlighting PolyU's dedication to providing a well-rounded education and fostering a vibrant campus environment.   Mark your calendar and make sure to tune in to the last episode on 2 March at 7.30 PM! This episode will continue exploring the diverse and dynamic culture of our students, offering viewers a deeper insight into the enriching experiences and opportunities available.   Hosted by a dynamic team of four individuals, including two talented graduates from PolyU, the programme delves into the vibrant student life at PolyU. Through captivating storytelling, it provides a unique perspective on campus experiences, offering a glimpse into the achievements and challenges faced by Hong Kong university students.   In the episodes, representatives from PolyArts, Archery Club, Photographic Society, Softball Club, and Iai Kenjutsu Club share their experiences and insights, giving viewers a glimpse into the vibrant and diverse culture nurtured by our interest clubs. In one segment of the programme, led by PolyArts members, the hosts actively participate in rehearsals and showcase the behind-the-scenes preparations for upcoming events. PolyU Students Shone and Awarded Top Three Prizes in the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards Students Poster Design Competition

PolyU is proud to announce the remarkable success of our students in the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards Students Poster Design Competition. Three talented students from PolyU's School of Design have awarded the top three prizes, showcasing their exceptional design prowess and creativity.   MOK Dick Ka, a student majoring in Advertising Design, won the Championship, while MA Kwan Yau Horace, also majoring in Advertising Design, awarded the 1st Runner-Up. CHENG Yu Tung, a student who is majoring in Communication Design, achieved the 2nd Runner-Up. The Hong Kong Film Awards invites students from major design schools in Hong Kong to participate in the poster design competition every year, which is judged by senior designers and art directors and is of great significance.  The awards are not only a recognition of the awardees, but also an affirmation of PolyU’s 60 years of design education and research in Hong Kong!   PolyU extends heartfelt congratulations to MOK Dick Ka, MA Kwan Yau Horace, and CHENG Yu Tung for their outstanding achievements. Celebrating Triumphs of PolyU Sportsmen for the 2023 Asian Games and World University Games

The "Celebrating Triumphs of PolyU Sportsmen for the 2023 Asian Games and World University Games" event was held to pay tribute to and honour the remarkable achievements of our dedicated PolyU student-athletes who excelled at the Hangzhou Asian Games and the Chengdu World University Games 2023. The event provided an opportunity for approximately 40 student-athletes, along with our medallists and senior management, to come together and engage in meaningful interactions. The event commenced with a celebratory toast from Prof. Jin-Guang Teng, President of PolyU, Prof. Ben Young, Vice President (Student and Global Affairs), Prof. Albert Chan, Dean of Students, and four Honorary Managers of sports teams. A Vibrant Ceremony to Kick-off the Limitless Festival 2024

PolyU Student Affairs Office has successfully organised a vibrant ceremony on 1 Feb to kick off this year's Limitless Festival. This annual campaign aims to promote inclusion awareness on campus and celebrate the diverse abilities within PolyU. With the participation of nearly 100 enthusiastic students, staff and guests, the atmosphere was electric! The presence and support of all the participants make the event a resounding success. "INSPIRE" Mentorship Programme Annual Gathering 2023

The “INSPIRE” Mentorship Programme Annual Gathering 2023 was held on 12 January 2024 at Hotel ICON. Around 260 mentors and mentees came together, united by the invaluable experience of their mentoring journeys.   The Gathering opened with a celebratory toast from PolyU’s Council members, Court members (also mentors) and senior management. During the event, mentors Mr Andy Wong and Ms Wendy Man, and their respective mentees Ms Leung Oi Lam Corrina and Ms Cheung Man Ying Connie, shared their journeys of discovery with the “INSPIRE” community.   Participating on the “INSPIRE” journey, the mentors played the triple roles of an advisor, life coach and role model to the mentees, with a view to broadening the students’ horizons and enhancing their growth. PolyU holds 2024 New Year’s Day flag-raising ceremony

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) held a flag-raising ceremony on 1 January 2024 to welcome the New Year. PolyU Council Chairman Dr LAM Tai-fai, President Prof. Jin-Guang TENG, Deputy Council Chairman Dr Lawrence LI Kwok-chang, President Emeritus Prof. the Honourable POON Chung-kwong, Emeritus Professor (Structural Engineering) Prof. Jan-ming KO, together with Council and Court members, University senior management, University Fellows, Outstanding Alumni, members of the PolyU Foundation, distinguished guests, staff, students and alumni attended the ceremony, wishing the Nation and Hong Kong prosperity and stability. The ceremony was performed by the PolyU Student Flag-Raising Team. Dr Lam Tai-fai said, “Over the past year, Hong Kong has advanced towards a new stage, moving from stability to prosperity, with the economy showing gradual recovery and society restoring its stability. We are also pleased to see the District Council Election concluded successfully, which strengthens the implementation of the ‘patriots administering Hong Kong’ principle. In 2024, PolyU will harness its strengths in education, research and knowledge transfer, while rendering its full support to the HKSAR government in integrating itself into the overall development of the Nation and fully capitalising on our distinctive advantages of strong support from the Motherland and close connection to the world under the principle of ‘One Country, Two Systems’, working hand in hand with our country to create a better future.” Prof. Jin-Guang Teng remarked, “With the aspiration to be an innovative world-class university, PolyU is committed to nurturing socially responsible talents who possess a strong sense of national identity and a global perspective, and to pursuing impactful research and innovation to address societal needs.
