EAGLE the Explorers


Objectives

“EAGLE the Explorers” brings a dedicated small group of students to Chiang Mai, Thailand to visit and learn about the topic of “Sustainable Cities and Communities”. The offshore trip serves as a platform for students to reflect on how one, as a global citizen, can contribute to the world betterment leveraging on their own unique interests, skills and strengths.

3 thematic pre-trip workshops are included to equip students with all essential knowledge required for the transformative journey.

Suitable for those looking for an inspiring excursion outside of Hong Kong, and interested in enhancing their leadership development, particularly in the area of sustainability and community development.


Details

Selected students for the Explorers will participate and complete the following:

Pre-trip Preparation Workshops and Topics

  • Understanding UN Sustainable Development Goals
  • Local and offshore situations on UNSDG No. 11
  • Personal growth and understanding
  • Reflections on personal strength and weaknesses with regard to UNSDGs

Explorers Offshore Expendition

  • Lectures and workshops on the social situation in Thailand
  • Visiting renowned organisations
  • Experiential learning on eco-agriculture and other issues
  • Reflections and debriefings
  • Preparation for post-trip commitments

Students will fulfil the post-trip commitments and other activities to complete the whole programme.

In Semester One, students who registered for the Explorers should participate and complete the Courses and Workshops, Leadership Training Camp, and other Local Engagement activities.

In Semester Two, shortlisted candidates will be invited for a selection group interview. Results will be announced individually by email after the interview process.

Selection Criteria

  • Participation in EAGLE's Courses and Workshops, Leadership Training Camp, and other Local Engagement activities.
  • Commitment in leadership enhancement
  • Academic records
  • Others, e.g. recommendations, references, etc.

Fees and Deposits

Selected students are required to pay for the listed fees and/or deposits below:

  • Courses and Workshops, Leadership Training Camp, Local Engagement activities (Depends on the registration and participation)
  • Programme fee (HK$2,000) [Non-refundable]
  • Programme fee (HK$1,500) [Refundable upon satisfactory completion of all required tasks and commitments]

Subsidies

Students with financial difficulties can apply for EAGLE's subsidies. Details will be announced to all selected students.
