The history of EDC began in Polytechnic times when it was a small unit located in the basement of the Library, focusing on the use of educational technology (meaning visualisers and the like). As PolyU became a university, our focus shifted to educational development and began to develop as a standalone unit. In 2000, the unit became a centre and was renamed Educational Development Centre (EDC). Since then, we have established ourselves in the professional field of Educational Development locally and internationally. Our scope of work expanded considerably from offering professional development opportunities groups and individuals to supporting institutional level strategic development in education in a wide variety of ways. Today, we are one of the most established and successful centres of this kind in Hong Kong.
