Design of DIMS lens.

DIMS and DISC lenses are highly effective for controlling myopia progression and are non-invasive. The DIMS lens is also the treatment of choice for children under eight years of age and for those who cannot or do not wish to wear contact lens.

DIMS lens incorporated multiple segments with myopic defocus of +3.50 D. Refractive error (cycloplegic autorefraction) and axial length were measured at 6month intervals. results tacle lenses the ideal alternative option.160 children completed the study, n=79 in the DIMS group and n=81 in the SV group.

Spectacle lens with micro-lenses - The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU)
DIMS Spectacle Lens comprises of a central optical zone and multi-segments of constant myopic defocus surrounding the central zone and extending to mid-periphery of the lens. The solution came in the form of DIMS lens, developed in collaboration with Hoya Vision Care and based on the same defocus principles as the DISC lens.

Background: Myopia control interventions, such as defocus incorporated multiple segments (DIMS) spectacle lenses, have been adopted in school-aged children to reduce the prevalence of myopia and its complications.

Aims: To determine myopia progression in children who continued to wear the defocus incorporated multiple segments (DIMS) lenses or switched from single vision (SV) to DIMS lenses for a 1-year period following a 2-year myopia control trial. Methods: 128 children participated in this study.

DIMS lens wearers showed better efficacy in myopia control in children with relatively more baseline hyperopic RPR than children with relatively baseline myopic RPR. This suggests that using customized peripheral myopic defocus based on individual baseline RPR may help to improve myopia control effects.

Our recent clinical trial has shown the DIMS lens slowed myopia progression by 60% in Hong Kong schoolchildren (8 - 13 years old). This new treatment method can help to reduce high myopia (below -5D) population (around 938 million globally), drastically lowering the overall risk of myopia associated eye diseases, e.g. retinal detachment and ...
