Prof. Jacqueline SIN

Professor

Biography

Jacqueline trained as a mental health nurse in Hong Kong in the early 1990s before pursuing further specialist mental health and health research training in Australia and the UK. Supported with multiple prestigious research fellowships, she further trained in medical statistics, systematic reviews and complex trials management in several world-leading institutions.

Throughout her career, Jacqueline’s frontline, leadership and management roles have been distributed across research, education and clinical practice, covering a spectrum of mental health issues - from severe mental illness (such as schizophrenia, psychosis, bipolar disorder) to mental wellbeing among carers and healthcare professionals. Jacqueline’s clinical research programme focuses on co-producing, evaluating and implementing innovative psychosocial interventions for and with people affected by psychosis, complex trauma, autism, and those in an informal carer and formal peer support worker roles. She is dedicated to advancing evidence-based care and prioritising the needs of those in frontline services.

Jacqueline’s methodological expertise lies in using multi-methods and in pushing the boundaries of participatory approaches to embed patient, carer, and public involvement into health research.  She is a recognised pioneer for optimising digital health, and an advocate for sustainable and ethical workforce solutions to innovate mental health service and research delivery. Her research in digital mental health interventions has attracted competitive research funding resulting in publications in leading scientific journals including The Lancet Digital Health, Nature Medicine, and Journal of Medical Internet Research.
