Local WIE

Local internship offers annually a wide array of job opportunities for students’ personal and professional development needs as well as for meeting their WIE requirements. Students may apply for these jobs via PolyU Job Board when registration opens.

 

HKSARG Summer Internship Programme

  • The HKSAR government offers internship opportunities in various units each summer. Please visit Job Board for details and further opportunities.

 

Post-Secondary Student Summer Internship Programme and Vacation Trainee (Vacation Training Scheme) of the HKSARG

  • This programme offers a large number of internship opportunities every year. Application period usually commences in late March to early June.
 

 Maritime and Aviation Internship Scheme

  • The initiative, driven by the Transport and Housing Bureau of the HKSARG, offers a wide spectrum of career opportunities in the aviation and maritime sectors so as to encourage students to join the sector after graduation.
  • Past employers included Cathay Pacific Services Limited; DHL Global Forwarding (Hong Kong) Limited; Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (HAECO); Hong Kong Airport Authority of Hong Kong; John Swire & Sons (H.K.) Ltd; Hongkong International Terminals Limited; Modern Terminals Limited; Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd, and Maersk Hong Kong Limited.

 

Internship Programme of the Legislative Council Secretariat

  • The Programme enables students to better understand the constitutional functions and operation of the Legislative Council, and to have hands-on experience in the support services provided by the Secretariat.
  • Student interns will have the opportunities to observe Council and committee meetings, meet with members and senior staff members of the Secretariat, conduct simple researches, undertake simple exercises relating to the services provided by the Secretariat to the Council, and participate in a training workshop introducing the work of the Council as well as a students' sharing session.

 

Internship Programme for Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) University Students

  • The Civil Service Bureau has launched this internship programme specifically for NEC students since 2019 to assist young NEC in acquiring work experience and enhancing their competitiveness for employment.  NEC students have been posted to various government bureaux and departments for an internship lasting about eight weeks.

 

Local Internships at Private Companies

  • It is another resourceful channel of internships for students of different disciplines. Application period usually commences as early as March. The monthly salary range is normally from HK$6,000 to HK$9,000.
