The Broad Discipline of Applied Sciences aims to facilitate students' active exploration of different applied sciences disciplines in their first year of study. This allows students the flexibility to finalise their programme choice based on their interest at the end of Year One as follows.
After successful completion of the 4-year programme, students will be awarded a degree in their selected Major programme. For the specific aims of the above applied sciences programmes, please refer to their respective programme entries.

In the common Year One curriculum, students are required to take the following subjects:
* The subjects to be taken depend on the students' HKDSE attainment.
In addition to the above subjects, students can also take some subjects from the Discipline Specific Requirements to prepare for further study in the selected Major programme, or some subjects from the General University Requirements in Year One.
Students would follow the curriculum of their selected Major programme from Year Two onwards.

Students should refer to the Definitive Programme Document of the respective programmes as soon as they have indicated their programme choice no later than the end of Year One .
