New pedagogy: We developed a new pedagogy called GitHub-based pedagogy. This pedagogy strives to improve students’ learning to learn (L2L), problem-solving and online collaboration skills via a flipped classroom implementation.
Background: GitHub is a web platform for international programmers and coders to share their codes and jointly work on a coding project remotely via this online platform. It’s very popular for giant companies such as Google, Amazon Tesla, etc.
What we do: We implemented this teaching in Freshman hands-on project in ENG1003. We provide many online materials including tutorial videos, slides, and codes and also provide compulsory tasks and advanced tasks to students. 5 students came from different programme and countries are selected to form a group. This is a 5-weeks project. 3 TAs are assigned to facilitate the implementation of this project.
