This talk explores how China’s rich history shapes its contemporary policy decisions. From ancient philosophies to modern governance, historical narratives influence China’s approach to diplomacy, trade, and security. As the nation navigates complex global challenges – such as economic competition, environmental issues, and geopolitical tensions – understanding its historical context becomes crucial. This talk reveals how lessons from the past inform China’s strategies, fostering resilience and adaptability in an ever-changing world. By analysing these insights, a deeper appreciation of China’s motivations and its role on the global stage will be gained.
本次講座探討中國悠久的歷史如何塑造其當代政策決策。從古代哲學到現代治理，歷史敘事影響中國在外交、貿易和安全方面的策略。面對經濟競爭、環境問題和地緣政治緊張局勢等複雜的全球挑戰時，了解其歷史背景變得至關重要。本次講座將展示歷史經驗如何指導中國的策略，在瞬息萬變的世界中保持韌性和適應性。通過分析這些洞見，將更深入地理解中國的動機及其在全球舞臺上角色。
Dr. Chui (DBA, M.Sc., LLM, FHKICPA) , an Adjunct Professor at Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, has spent his entire career working as a professional accountant and business executive. He served as the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station’s Chief Auditor in Shenzhen, China, until he retired. After that, he took a position as Executive Director for a publicly listed company, where he engaged in the jewellery business in the Greater China region. He spent more than eighteen years travelling and living in the Mainland throughout his last two jobs. He personally witnessed China’s profound transition since the turn of the 21st century. Being in the right place at the right time allowed him to give his talk from personal experience, first-hand knowledge and observations. Thus, he is able to explain how traditional culture has only evolved and been sustained in modern China, and demonstrate the connections between historic and contemporary China.
徐傳順博士（工商管理博士、理學碩士、法學碩士、香港會計師公會會員），現任香港恒生大學客座教授，其整個職業生涯專注於專業會計師和商業高管。他曾擔任中國深圳大亞灣核電站總審計師直至退休，隨後出任一家上市公司的執行董事，從事大中華地區的珠寶業務。在過往的兩份工作中，他在中國大陸旅行和生活逾十八年，親眼見證了自21世紀初以來中國的深刻變革。恰逢其時的機遇，使他能夠以親身經歷、第一手知識和觀察為基礎展開演講，闡明傳統文化如何在現代中國得到演變和延續，並展示歷史中國與當代中國之間的聯繫。
