Tuition Fee

Tuition Waiver for Local Research Postgraduate Students

• The Hong Kong SAR Government has launched a tuition waiver scheme (the Scheme) and will provide a non-means-tested tuition waiver to all eligible local students enrolled in full-time UGC-funded research postgraduate programmes with effect from the 2018/19 academic year.
• Details of the Scheme can be obtained at the University Grants Committee's website.

• The application fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable. You must settle the application fee upon submission of your online application.  Otherwise, your application will not be further processed. 

Registration Fee

• Upon acceptance of an admission offer to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)/Master of Philosophy (MPhil) programme, you will be required to pay above registration fee before the payment deadline specified in the online Notice of Offer. This registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
• This registration fee will be credited to your tuition fee, which will be payable upon your admission to the University. For scholarship recipients who are not required to pay a tuition fee and students eligible for the tuition waiver for local research postgraduate students offered by the Hong Kong SAR Government, the registration fee will be refunded after the commencement of study at PolyU.
• Requests to waive or defer payment of the registration fee will not be considered.  The admission offer will lapse automatically if you fail to pay the registration fee by the stipulated deadline.

Scholarships

Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme

• A monthly stipend of HK$28,700 (approximately US$3,679) for the entire normal study period
• A conference and research related travel allowance of HK$14,400 (approximately US$1,846) per year for the entire normal study period
• Cash Award: HK$40,000 in the first year and HK$20,000 per year from the second year to the end of the normal study period
• Waiving of tuition fees for the entire normal study period

Kuok Group Fellowship

• A monthly stipend of HK$28,400 (approximately US$3,641) for the entire normal study period
• A maximum of HK$25,000 (approximately US$3,200) conference grant for the entire study period
• Cash Award: HK$40,000 in the first year and HK$20,000 per year from the second year to the end of the normal study period
• Waiving of tuition fees for the entire normal study period
• Eligible hall place for 1 years   

PolyU Presidential PhD Fellowship Scheme

• A monthly stipend of HK$28,400 (approximately US$3,641) for the entire normal study period
• A maximum of HK$25,000 (approximately US$3,200) conference grant for the entire study period
• Cash Award: HK$40,000 in the first year and HK$20,000 per year from the second year to the end of the normal study period
• Waiving of tuition fees for the entire normal study period
• Eligible hall place for 1 years

International PhD Fellowship Scheme

• A monthly stipend of HK$19,220* (approximately US$2,464) for the entire normal study period
• *HK$19,660 (approximately US$2,520) for PhD students who have confirmed their registration
• A maximum of HK$25,000 (approximately US$3,200) conference grant for the entire normal study period
• Cash Award (may be allocated to outstanding applicants): HK$40,000 in the first year and HK$20,000 per year from the second year to the end of the normal study period
• Waiving of tuition fees for the entire normal study period

PolyU Research Postgraduate Scholarship

• A monthly stipend of HK$19,220* (approximately US$2,464) for the entire normal study period *HK$19,660 (approximately US$2,520) for PhD students who have confirmed their registration
• A maximum of HK$25,000 (approximately US$3,200) conference grant for the entire normal study period
• Students are required to pay an annual tuition fee of HK$47,000 (approximately US$6,025)
• Eligible hall place for 1 years

CEE Entry Scholarship for Research Postgraduate Programmes

High-calibre students from top universities worldwide will be provided with additional entry scholarship on top of the offered stipend of the PolyU Research Postgraduate Scholarship (PRPgS) to study research postgraduate programmes (PhD level)* at CEE.

*RPg students who are already awarded the RGC Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) / the PolyU Presidential PhD Fellowship Scheme (PPPFS) or admitted under the Dual PhD Degree Programmes are excluded from this scholarship.
