Does your child have autism? We warmly invite your family to participate in an emotional and family research study led by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Research has shown that autism not only affects the child individually, but may also interact with and influence the emotional communication and dynamics of the entire family. Through this scientific study, we aim to help parents better understand both their own and their child’s emotional expression, regulation, and empathy, ultimately promoting greater understanding and connection within the family.
Most parts of the study can be completed at home by simply filling out online questionnaires. Upon completion, you will receive cash incentives and a personalized family emotional profile report, offering insights into each family member’s emotional traits and interaction patterns.
We also encourage families who are able to join the optional in-person session at the PolyU Language Laboratory, where we will assess your child’s narrative skills. In return, you will receive a detailed IQ assessment report, along with materials such as an emotional diary. Additional cash incentives are available — each participant may receive HKD 200 or more.
If visiting in person is not feasible, you are welcome to participate in the first two online components only, and you will still receive the corresponding incentives and emotional report.
Ø Families with children aged 5 to 18 (especially 6 to 16) are welcome to join. The more family members participate, the more rewards you receive!
Ø This study is conducted by the Department of Language Science and Technology at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. All information will be kept strictly confidential.
