Mr. Daniel Chum, Speech Therapist

Mr. Daniel Chum is currently Speech Therapist at the Speech Therapy Unit in the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree in Psychology from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He later received his Master of Speech Therapy degree with Distinction from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and qualified as a speech therapist.

 

Mr. Chum had clinical experience at a non-government organisation, serving nearly 100 old age homes in the New Territories. In addition to providing communication and swallowing assessment and training to adults, he also offered staff consultation and public seminars to raise awareness on communication and swallowing disorders in aging population. Mr. Chum serves both the paediatric and adult populations with communication and/or swallowing difficulties as he joins PolyU. His clinical experience also includes social communication in adolescence, school-based speech therapy, Chinese written language disorders and stuttering intervention.

 

Mr. Chum is a Full Member of The Hong Kong Association of Speech Therapists. He is also a certified provider of Ampcare’s Effective Swallowing Protocol, Beckman Oral Motor Assessment and Intervention, Oral Placement Therapy, and certified practitioner of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

 

Mr. Chum is fluent in Cantonese, English and Mandarin.
