General Information

  • Full-time & Part-time students are both eligible for application.
  • Students studying programmes offered by College of Professional & Continuing Education (CPCE) are not eligible to apply.
Free of use for the period up to 23 July 2022, subject to availability.
  1. Login Locker System (https://www.polyu.edu.hk/saolocker/) from 30 August 2021 (10:00 am) for 2021/22 locker application on a first-come-first-served basis.
  2. Select locker location & the row of locker, read the regulations carefully and indicate your acceptance of the regulations.
  3. Check the locker number in the Locker System after received an email named "Locker Application Result".
  4. Successful locker applicant should:
    • Prepare your own padlock.
    • Come to Student Affairs Office (SAO) counter at QT308 (entrance from Core T) in person within 28 days with your padlock.
    • Print a unique QR code label at the SAO counter.
    • Stick the QR code on your padlock.
    • Hand in the padlock to SAO colleagues at the reception counter of SAO.
  5. You could use the locker within 6 working days* after you give SAO your padlock. No further reminder will be issued.
  6. If you fail to submit your padlock to SAO within 28 days from the issuance of email, we would assume that you give up the locker. The locker will be released for application by other students. 


* Saturday is not counted as a working day. For example, if you pass your padlock to SAO on 1 Sep 2021, we would put your padlock to your assigned locker on or before 7 Sep 2021 and you could use the locker from 8 Sep 2021.

Early return of locker is required in case of:

  • Graduation or completion of study
  • Termination of study
  • Deferment of study
  • Withdrawal of study
  • Change of Academic Programme

Users have to vacate their locker and remove their padlock as soon as possible but not later than one month after the above listed scenario. Failing that, SAO will force open the locker(s) and dispose of items found inside.

Students who have their status changed are required to report to SAO as soon as possible. SAO has the authority to terminate their right to use the locker and they will be given one month to vacate their lockers. SAO will force open the locker(s) and dispose of items found inside after the one-month grace period.

Each successful applicant will be allocated with one locker.

Students should comply with regulations governing the use of lockers.

Lockers are meant for storing study related items e.g. books, notes, stationery and related academic materials.

Storage of any items that would cause or likely to cause danger or nuisance to the environment or other members of the University e.g. explosives, pets are prohibited.

Students are also advised not to store any valuable belongings such as cash, digital devices, personal identity documents, etc. in the lockers. The University will not be responsible for the security, loss nor damage of the property kept inside the lockers. Students should take full responsibility of items stored in their lockers. In case of theft, students are advised to report to the Campus Security Control Centre (Room P111).

Students must keep their lockers locked at all times. High quality steel padlocks with base of 35-40mm wide are recommended. Combination padlocks or other padlocks are not recommended for security reasons.

Lockers are not transferable. Successful applicants must be responsible for all items stored in their assigned lockers.

The lockers located inside buildings, will be subject to the opening hours of the buildings as announced by Facilities Management Office (FMO). In general, the opening hours of buildings are as follows (subject to change by FMO):

Monday – Friday: 7:00am – 11:00pm

Saturday: 7:00am – 7:00pm

Sunday & Public holidays: Closed

 

Students should inform SAO through sending an email to locker.info@polyu.edu.hk or via https://www.polyu.edu.hk/pfs/index.php/715727?lang=en if they have vacated their lockers for returning to SAO before 23 July 2022.

All users should vacate their lockers on or before 23 July 2022 for routine cleaning and annual maintenance.

SAO reserves the right to force open any locker(s) and disposal any items found inside after the deadline of 23 July 2022.

An administrative cost of $100 (subject to change) would be charged on users who fail to vacate their lockers before the deadline.

1. How do I locate my locker?

Please note below the configuration of the locker number, for example: AB12345

The 2 letters (AB) refers to the WING/CORE/BLOCK

The first digit (1) refers to the FLOOR

The last four digits (2345) refers to the individual LOCKER NUMBER

 

2. How do I know my locker number?

You may check it out at the locker system at https://www.polyu.edu.hk/saolocker/.

 

3. Why I find a "SAO" padlock in my locker? When can I use the locker?

Upon receipt of the locker application result email, please prepare your own padlock and come to SAO counter at QT308 (entrance from Core T) in person within 28 days to print a unique QR code label. Stick the QR code label on your padlock, then hand in the padlock to SAO colleagues at the reception counter of SAO. Our staff will then take away “SAO” padlock and lock your assigned lockers with the padlock provided by you within 6 working days. You could then use the locker and no further notification would be issued.

 

4. Can I change my locker location?

Request for re-allocation of locker will not be entertained. In case of physical constraint or other special reason, please send an email to locker.info@polyu.edu.hk and ask for special consideration.

 

5. When should I return my locker?

All locker users should return the lockers by the end of examination period of summer semester, that is, 23 July 2022, unless you have special prior approval from SAO.

 

6. Can I return my locker later?

No extension would be entertained. Locker users have to vacate and unlock their lockers on or before the deadline.

 

7. What can I do if my locker is damaged?

Please come IN PERSON to the reception counter of the SAO at Room QT308, 3/F (Entrance at Core T) and colleagues there will provide advice / assistance.

 

8. What can I do if I lost my locker key / my padlock is out of order?

9. What can I do if my assigned locker is occupied by unauthorized user?

First, you should re-confirm your locker number. If you find the locker number is correct, please bring your padlock to the reception counter of the SAO at Room QT308, 3/F (Entrance at Core T) and colleagues there will provide assistance. Please be reminded that the application should be made IN PERSON.

 

10. Why combination lock is not recommended?

Thefts are more commonly found in lockers locked by combination locks.

 

11. Should I prepare my padlock?

Locker users have to prepare their own padlock upon confirmation of the allocation of a locker. Our Office will not provide any padlock or locker key.

 

12. What can I do if I forget to pay the locker rental by the deadline?

The locker will be released for application by others and you will need to re-apply again in the locker system, if necessary and subject to availability.
