To equip students with a solid foundation in the principles and applications of mechanical engineering, this Minor programme integrates theoretical knowledge with practical skills.
Upon successful completion of the Minor programme, students will be able to:
- Have a good understanding of the purposes and functions of key mechanical engineering concepts, including dynamics, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
- Apply engineering principles to solve real-world mechanical problems in various contexts.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using engineering tools and software for designing and analyzing mechanical systems.
- Collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams, showcasing communication and project management skills.
- Evaluate and assess the impact of mechanical engineering decisions on societal and environmental factors.
This Minor provides a valuable complement to students' primary disciplines, enhancing their career prospects in diverse fields such as automotive, aerospace, and energy sectors.
Undergraduate students are eligible to pursue a Major plus a Minor, except for the following cases:
- Students admitted to the advanced stage of a programme on senior year status;
- Students admitted to an articulation degree programme; or
- Students enrolled in Majors which are designed to preclude the possibility of pursuing a Minor.
Students must obtain a Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above at the time of the Minor application.
The Minor application period normally begins after the announcement of overall results for Semester Two of Year One. Your CGPA at the end of Semester Two of Year One will be used to determine your eligibility. If you are interested in pursuing a Minor, please submit your application via eStudent > Application Forms > (AR147) Application for Minor during the designated application period.
