Prof. FU Mingwang, Chair Professor of Advanced Manufacturing in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at PolyU, has recently received the 2025 Lee Hsun Cooperative Research Award for his significant impact and contribution to the field of materials science and engineering. Given by the Institute of Metal Research (IMR), one of the most important centres of excellence of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) located in Shenyang, China. The award was presented during his visit to IMR from April 20-26, 2025.

Prof. Fu was invited to present a lecture during the award ceremony, titled "Size Effects in Engineering Mechanics, Materials Science and Multi-Scaled Manufacturing", showcasing the development of various physical mechanisms and models, as well as the impact of size effects on multi-scale metal forming behavior and performance.

The Lee Hsun Award is a prestigious academic honor commemorating Dr Lee Hsun, the first director of the IMR appointed in 1953. It is awarded to distinguished international scholars who have made world-class research achievements in the field of materials science and engineering. It aims to encourage scientists with notable influence on the field to visit IMR to enhance academic communication and cooperation, and to promote the establishment of new subject areas.
