Timo Bazuin is a Publisher in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Elsevier. With a career spanning over a decade in STM publishing, Timo has developed a reputation for meticulousness, efficiency, and a proactive approach to managing journal portfolios. A major strength of Timo's work is his dedication to ensuring scientific integrity and employing rigorous methodologies to identify and address potential bad actors in the publishing process.

Timo holds a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Culture from Utrecht University, the Netherlands.

Abstract

This seminar will offer valuable insights into the publication process, explaining how journals function and providing guidance on manuscript preparation to enhance the chances of acceptance, and discussing how submissions are processed. We will delve into the topic of publication ethics, shedding light on the responsibilities of different stakeholders. Additionally, we will explore examples of current misconduct, discuss the repercussions of such actions, AI-enabled manuscript preparation and its acceptable practice, and introduce the tools employed to detect and address ethical breaches.
