Professor Liqiu Wang, Otto Poon Charitable Foundation Professor in Smart and Sustainable Energy and Chair Professor of Thermal-Fluid and Energy Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, is a globally recognized leader bridging engineering disciplines. Formerly Chair Professor at the University of Hong Kong, his prolific research has yielded over 300 high-impact publications in premier journals like Science, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Chemical Engineering, and PNAS, alongside 11 books and 40+ patents. His most renowned innovation is the ultra-precise thermal control system for the International Space Station's Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer, enabling flawless operation (±1°C) amidst extreme orbital temperature swings. Honored with awards like the Geneva Inventions Gold Medal and the OSA Innovation Award, Prof. Wang pioneers nature-inspired microfluidics engineering, creating revolutionary materials and devices—from artificial blood vessels and smart drug-delivery systems to liquid-repellent materials and anti-pathogen coatings—that integrate biotechnology, energy, information, and nano/micro-technology for a sustainable future.
